I briefly witnessed how his eyes widened, before closing mine as I placed my lips upon his.

His lips were soft and warm. His beard tickled my face but I didn't mind, there was something about the way it felt, that had me wanting to gently graze my fingers over it.

I finally registered how tense his body was, just as I was pulling away. He lunged for me. One hand was in my hair, one arm was snagged around my waist pulling me closer into him. My kiss was gentle and sudden, while his kiss was urgent and passionate, like a crazed beast finally having the chance to devour its meal.

And I liked it.

My hands moved into his wavy hair, gripping, giving it a slight tug, wanting him closer. His approving growl sent a shiver down my spine that caused me to make a strange noise In response. His hand in my hair titled my head just enough for him to plunge his tongue inside my mouth. I felt so hot that I could melt. I felt so hot that I couldn't breathe.

Needing air desperately, I gently pulled away from the kiss, our heavy panting the only thing heard as he rested his forehead against mine. My hands slid down to rest upon his firm chest. I finally opened my eyes to gaze at him, his eyes were darkened by desire and I squirmed under his gaze. But this time it wasn't because I was uncomfortable.

The longer I stared at him the faster my brain caught up to reality of what I just did, what we had just done. My face felt embarrassingly hot, emotions led me to acting impulsively without any logical thought process.

I kissed him! ....He kissed me!....

Killian witnessed her face transform from lustful eyes to embarrassment. Her rosy cheeks were practically scarlet red as she panted.

His body was on fire, desire pumped in his veins, he throbbed beneath his pants.

How long had he thought about this, kissing her?... To finally have a slight taste of heaven from her lips was only adding oil to the fire. He wanted more, he craved to taste every inch of her.

But he needs to stop now, before he loses all self control like an animal and claims her right here in their reception room.

She's emotional... it was a spur of the moment, which he happily welcomed. But let's not push our luck.

I heard and felt beneath my hands his low chuckle before he moved his head, placing his lips carefully but firmly against my forehead. His hand that was still within my hair, caressed gently before slipping out.

"Are you hungry?... Dinner should be ready now"... Killian asked as he looked out the window to see the dark orange and pink hues in the sky.

I nodded silently, not trusting my voice just yet. Killian stood holding out his hand for me to take.

Always the gentleman.

I glanced down at the forgotten letters that fell to the floor from my lap, picking them up, I gazed at emerald green with a silent question.

"You are free to do as you wish, you can reply if you want or you can burn them"... He shrugs casually

I looked between each letter, I knew I had no desire to speak to either of them ever again, If I truly do have a choice.

Burn them it is.

My eyes scanned the reception room, finding the unlit fireplace. Killian must have followed my line of sight because soon he released my hand, making his way to the  fireplace. It wasn't long before he brought it to life, burning with a promise.
