Author's POV
As the night went on, they heard an announcement.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we hope you are enjoying the celebration hosted by Neel and Layla as they embark on an exciting new venture in Italy. We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to the couple on their upcoming wedding! Now, how about we make this masquerade party a little more interesting?" The host announced, prompting cheers and hoots from the guests.
"Great! We are going to play a game. Here are a few numbers kept in two separate bowls. One for women and one for men. Everyone has to pick a chit and as we announce the pairings of the numbers, the couple who owns the respective digits are supposed to be partnered for the night. So, What are you waiting for? Go, find your charm for the night" The host said and everyone dispersed in the hopes of finding an escape in the game from their busy lives and hectic schedules.
Reeva tightly clutched the glass in her hand as she wanted to bang the heads of the hosts into stone walls for introducing this bullshit. Pairing with a man? No way! She hated interacting with that deceitful gender. Not like she liked talking to women because character didn't depend on gender but she hated the whole male population altogether. Business was fine but random games? Chatter? Laughter? TOUCHES? She knew if she played the game she would kill the person she was paired with in the first few seconds.
Before the glass in her hand could be shattered to pieces it was taken from her hands as Aditya looked at his woman with a smile. She scowled at him and he mouthed, "So cute" in return making her walk away to pick a slip. Anything was better than interacting with that infuriating man in her angry state. She was too young to be locked up in a jail.
At the same moment, he came to pick the slip from the men's bowl while whispering to her, "Pick a pink slip"
She obeyed quietly picking a pink one knowing he was expecting her to do the opposite, not wanting to be paired with him at any cost. After being fooled before she knew his brain took advantage of her rebellious side.
Though Aditya was the most tolerable man in the dictionary she couldn't risk being seen with him. It would put him in danger. Even if it won't, considering it was a game, she wasn't very sure about his behavior. His best behavior included doing everything she told him not to do so she'd rather not take the risk at all.
One thing she was thankful for. After she had burnt Aditya's all-black clothes so that he couldn't match her he hadn't used his genius brain and gone for deep blue. Thank heavens, they weren't looking like a couple.
'But it would have been so hot walking hand in hand with him. He would have looked hotter in black' Reeva's heart had a mind of its own as it favored Aditya more than necessary. Reeva shunned that voice hating the images it was putting in her mind.
