Author's POV

People say regret kills more than sins. You commit the crime once but live with its regret every waking second of your life. Inch by inch, bit by bit the internal battle butchered the soul more than any external punishment would have. The same regret burned Reeva Aditya Roy's heart as she closed her eyes and listened to the voice of the woman she hated more than she loved her life. She regretted not letting her die in the past and saving those thousands of lives that woman had destroyed.

"I told you if I didn't hear from you, I wouldn't mind starting the conversation myself, so here I am. Missed your mama little girl?" she asked, and Reeva could hear her smirk all the way from her voice. Reeva didn't answer; she simply rolled her eyes. The next she heard was the agitated voice of her mother, who got irritated by her lack of response.

"Very bad Reevs I told you how much I hated your defiance didn't I? I had to call you myself to complain about your behavior daughter dearest. You know you'd be punished for this right? Who should we target this time? Hmm?" The woman made a thinking sound making Reeva clench her fist. Controlling her rage she let out a sarcastic laugh.

"Aren't my breaths enough proof that your threats are as useless as your talks Mrs. Trishna Arav Singhania or should I call you soon to be Mrs. Layla Neel Morgan?" Reeva smirked. Yes, the woman on the call was Trishna Singhania. The woman who was dead on paper but a living havoc in Reeva's life.

Reeva had already assessed nobody was nearby as she talked to her real mother, whose death anniversary she hadn't even properly stepped out of. People expected her to mourn for this woman who didn't care about anyone except herself. Who pretended to be dead after initiating the fire herself?
