Author's POV
Some people are inexpressibly close to your heart, but the extended period of distance and hatred they throw at you leaves you feeling empty inside. You might not be able to revert their negativity but you cannot bring yourself to connect with them. Such was the relationship between the caller and Reeva. A relationship that ran too deep yet was the coldest of all. A relationship that defined Reeva's existence but couldn't justify her identity. The caller had at one point in time wished for her death, but she couldn't even blame him for that. All she blamed him for was never hearing her side of the story.
Reeva swiped the green button, exhaling harshly, picking up her father's call.
"I hope I didn't disturb her Highness's sleep or pull her away from her husband's arms," Gaurav Singhania mocked sweetly.
Precisely, you did!
She wanted to say, but all her exhausted self could muster was a blank jab at her father. "Good morning, Dad. I hope your morning walk went well"
He scoffed in response to her greeting as he said, "Obviously, how will the great ice princess remember that we have continuous venerations at home for these four days"
"Ah! Can't help, father. Anything related to god has no space inside my head. However, to what do I owe the pleasure of this call?" she asked.
"Unfortunately, I have been cursed with a daughter who chooses to go on a fucking honeymoon amidst the only days her family demands her presence," Gaurav Singhania spat angrily. In the entire year, he merely wanted her to stand by them in their deepest grief, but all he got in return for his expectations was her carelessness and blank indifference.
