it has been far too long. I admit this isn't overly exciting, but it is something :)

"Explain this to me, again." Isaac shook his head, trying to register exactly what Zac was trying to tell him. He had heard the story, but now he was trying to sort it all out.

"Caleb invited us to dinner, at Luke's." Zac began slowly. He had been trying to explain to Isaac what had happened the previous evening, when Luke and Caleb had invited him and Brielle for dinner. The invite had been so casual, they weren't expecting to get there and it be some sort of weird dinner party.

"Yeah, I know. Jenna and I were invited too, but she didn't want to go." Isaac replied. That much he knew. It had got confusing when Zac started going on about this person and that person.

"Well, he also invited Taylor and Natalie." Zac added and Isaac nodded. "What threw everybody for the loop, was when Kate and Eric showed up. After them, Nikki came in. I don't know what Caleb was trying to prove, but it was fucked up."

Only Caleb Braun could manage to gather a room full of people who hated one another, then convince them to socialize and finish it off with dinner. Only Caleb Braun could get those people to show up and not one of them know they were walking into some sort of ambush. If this is how he conducted business, Zac felt sorry for anybody who tried to work with him.

"I found it a rather nice evening." Taylor added with a shrug, as he passed by the table his brothers were seated at.

"So, he invited us." Isaac motioned around the room, to signal he meant himself and his brothers. "Then, out of a stroke of genius, he invited your ex wife and mine?"

"Exactly!" Zac threw his hands in the air. "I didn't ask, I just went with it."

"Mostly because Brielle would have murdered you, if you didn't." Taylor added from a few feet away. Digging through his bag, Taylor smirked with his back turned to Zac. "Tell Ike the big news."

At the mention of news, Isaac leaned forward waiting to see if Zac would tell him whatever this big news way. Zac glared at Taylor, pushing his hair out of his eyes and clearing his throat.

"Kate's engaged." he announced with a very formal, yet even tone.

It turned out Brielle had been right. Zac hated when his wife was right. In the end, Kate hadn't been up to anything suspicious or deceitful like Zac had feared. She had sent the kids to his parents for the night, because she was having dinner at Luke's. When she arrived with a rather flashy, yet modest engagement ring, Kate had been forced to squash any elephants in the room making her announcement rather quickly. Isaac's brow furrowed.

"Uh, okay? Are we happy for them? Are we not happy to them?" Out of all the things he could have heard this was certainly a surprise.

"Brielle is on the verge of throwing them a party." Taylor snickered.

Hearing that his ex wife was engaged was odd and somewhat liberating to Zac. He had never given much thought to Kate ever remarrying, although now that it was happening Zac seemed to be perfectly fine with it. At first, he'd admit, he was shocked but none the less he was happy for them. If a person could find happiness, then who was he to stand in the way? The down side was Brielle.

This worked perfect for Brielle who still on the fence about wanting to announce her pregnancy. If everybody was consumed with the news that Kate was marrying her son's soccer coach, then Brielle could wait a bit longer. She had immediately began expressing how excited she was for Kate, telling her over and over how wonderful it was that she had somebody. Maybe Brielle was just excited, because she felt Kate having a husband would mean she'd stop being such a bitch about Zac's marriage? Zac and Brielle hadn't discussed Kate's news too much once they left Luke's house.
