the other day, I realized that Walk Me Down the Middle by The Band Perry made me think of this fic.

-----------------

Being back on American soil was nice, the Canadian tour had went exceptionally well, but being home was always nicer. Home was a place sometimes the band rarely got to see, they had been lucky this last year with only a few shows here and there. Next year would be much of the same, except Taylor was hell bent to get another album out. Releasing another album meant late, long, tiresome hours locked up in the studio with his brothers. A new album meant being on the road, away from his wife and kids. A new album meant more doors opened, even after all these years. A new album in a strange way meant hope. A new album was sort of like having a new baby, if somebody were to ask Zac to describe it perfectly.

From the second they had landed in Tulsa, Zac was buzzing to get home. He wanted to see his wife, to play with his children - although that would have to wait a few days, and more than anything he wanted a deserved break from Isaac and Taylor. The afternoon sun was high in the sky, when Zac followed Isaac out of the airport and into the parking lot. Jenna had flew home a few days ago, promising to pick Isaac up at the airport when he arrived home. As usual, Natalie was waiting with the children for Taylor.

What could be deemed unusual about all of this; was that Brielle was no where to be found. In the parking lot, a few rows over from Jenna's car sat a familiar red truck. Seeing his father standing next to the truck, Zac waved and veered toward him. Curiosity got the better of Isaac, following his brother across the lot.

"Good afternoon, dad." Isaac spoke, shielding his eyes from the sun. "Zac, you could have told us you needed a ride." he glanced at Zac.

"I could have, but I asked dad to help me with something." Zac replied slinging his bag in the back of the truck. Instruments would arrive tomorrow, quickly Zac reminded Isaac that it was his turn to pick up the load.

"Yeah, I won't forget." Isaac rolled his eyes. "So, what is dad helping you with?" he glanced between his father and brother.

"I was only told to pick him up." Walker defended, opening the door to the driver's side. "But, we need to get going to beat the rush. We'll see you later." he waved to Isaac.

"See ya!" Zac called climbing into the truck behind his father. Once settled inside, Zac pulled his sunglasses down over his eyes and smirked. "Is it ready?"

"Do you have any idea how hard it has been to hide this from your mother?" Walked asked, pulling out of the parking space. "You better hope your wife likes this surprise and makes it worth it."

"Oh, she will." Zac nodded, grinning from ear to ear.

For the last three weeks Zac had been working, searching, and prepping for this elaborate surprise. Since he had to be away most of the work had been done via the internet and with huge thanks to Walker, who had took care of the in person dealings. Zac had no idea how Brielle would take this, yet it didn't stop his own excitement. After all of the bullshit the year had handed out, she deserved this. Smiling, Zac could almost pin point her reaction. She would tell him it was too much, eventually she would warm up to such a big gesture and thank him. As for Zac, he got to see his wife happy, if only for a little while.

Receiving a message from Zac to say he would be a little late arriving home, Brielle nervously paced the living room where the big window over looked the drive way. Knowing that he had asked his father to pick him up, not to disturb Brielle in case she was busy with work, she watched for the familiar red truck. It was silly, Zac never had reservations about asking her to meet him at the airport. He knew that she had been working on a semi-important project for work, but that had been finished days ago.
