Our first date was perfect, although Jessica didn't talk much. I've learned her name was really Jessica Margarett Galanza. Cute, my Margarett.

Yep, our first date, because after that, we were inseparable for like months now.

"Hey, is there something bothering you?"

Margarett asked when she noticed I was staring into nothingness.

"Nothing. Just a rough day from school."

I forced a grin.

We were peacefully eating outside the university when I recognized my dad's car approaching us.

"Is she the reason your grades are failing now?"

Dad didn't even bother greeting us. He just went on accusing Margarett like that.

"Her name's Margarett, and you don't talk to her that way."

I stood up to my father.

"No, you don't talk to me that way, young man."

Margarett held on to my arms as we were having our heated argument.

"You don't get to act as if you were this perfect father and husband."

My eyes darkened while I said those words.

"What the hell is your problem? I didn't raise you to be this problematic kid!"

He shouted at me, and now people are starting to stare.

"You want to talk about something problematic, dad? I can't get the picture of you making out with your secretary out of my mind. There. I already said it. Are you happy now?"

My father was in deep shock, and he went silent for a few seconds. I was about to take Margarett away from there, but then he pulled my collar and threw punches in my face.

I thought I was going to pass out when my friends helped him up.

"Sir, that's too much."

Alec was trying to reach my father's consciousness. He looked into his fist, shifted his gaze on me, and realized it was full of my blood.

He didn't know how to react, so he freed himself from Alec and Dylan's grip and immediately drove away.

I saw Margarett crying, burying her face in my shirt.

I held her close to me and kissed her hair.

"I'm so sorry you had to witness that."

I said this to her as she was applying a cold compress to my wounds and bruises.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

She held my face and looked at me in the eyes.

"I never wanted to burden you."

I bitterly smiled, and I was surprised when she hugged me.

"I already prepared your dinner. Make sure not to starve yourself. I need to go home. My sister's waiting for me."
