"Hi."
I cheerfully greeted Jessica the next day.
"Thank you for the flowers and the coffee yesterday, but you don't have to, you know."
I nodded but stayed by her side.
"Anything I can do for you today?"
She turned her gaze on me. God, she's even more beautiful each day.
"I need another bouquet."
Her stare threw daggers at me.
"No, no, it's not what you think. It's for my mom. It's her birthday today."
I looked so tense with the way she stared at me, so I just nervously laughed.
"Okay."
She shortly replied and then proceeded to take out some paper.
"Could you do me roses today?"
I asked her as she was preparing my bouquet.
"Sure."
She's not a fan of chitchats, I see.
"Done. 3k."
She gave me the bouquet, but I couldn't bring myself to spill what I was meaning to ask her.
"Anything else?"
I shook my head and walked straight to the door.
"Actually, there is. Jessica, I know we just met, and this may be so soon, but will you let me court you? Please?"
I was literally catching my breath, and I sounded as if I were pleading, but I don't care. I thought Jessica would be mad at me, but instead she burst out of laughter. That's the first time I've heard her laugh. I was mesmerized and confused at the same time.
"Did the liquor hit you that hard that it made you lose your sanity?"
My jaw dropped upon hearing what she said.
"What? I'm serious."
My brows furrowed when she continued laughing, but she suddenly stopped.
"What?"
I just gave her a questioning look.
"You're really serious about that?"
She asked again, but I just shrugged it off.
"Someone like you has no business with someone like me."
I was on for a debate, but she cut me off.
"Let's do the math, alright"
She crossed her arms and leaned on the wall.
"Do we have to?"
I protested, but she just smirked at me.
"First of all, I've heard you just broke up with your four-year girlfriend, which was not even an official breakup. Second, you're not going to be on top of my list because I have a scholarship to maintain and a family to feed, and lastly, look at yourself. Look at me. You're out of my league, so could you just get over whatever game you're playing?"
