ADITYA
"Ananya, have you seen Tara?" I asked, but she didn't reply, her eyes fixed elsewhere. "Where are you lost that you are not even paying attention?" I asked, tapping her lightly on the head.
"Huh?" she suddenly looked at me, diverting her attention.
"Have you seen Tara?" I asked again.
"Yeah, Bhai. Bhabhi went in that direction," she said, pointing, and I nodded.
Following Ananya's instructions, I found my wife standing still, lost in her own world, eyes fixed on the ground.
"Tara," I called out, and she turned to look at me, losing her balance. I quickly took long strides and held her in my arms. What is going on today? First my sister, and now my wife, both lost in their thoughts.
"Ahh," she hissed in pain, and panic surged through me. I dropped to my knees to assess her injury. Her ankle was twisted, and her foot had slipped out of her heel.
"Where was your attention, Tara? You've hurt yourself. It must be hurting a lot," I said, my voice heavy with worry as I touched her swollen ankle, gently adjusting her heel.
"Adi, don't worry. I'm fine, seriously," she said calmly, looking at me.
"No, you're not. Sit down. I need to check your injury properly," I insisted, making her sit on a nearby chair. Her ankle was swollen and red. "It's swollen, we need to go to the hospital right now."
"Here I am hurt, and you're the one panicking." She looked at me. "It's just a twisted ankle, Adi. There's no need to go to the hospital," she said, pouting.
"I'm not asking, I'm telling you. And from now on, no more heels. You'll wear comfortable shoes only. I can't bear to see you in any kind of pain," I said sternly.
"I'm not going to the hospital, and that's final. You can't force me, otherwise I won't talk to you," she said, folding her arms. My woman is so stubborn. She never listens to me, always wants to have her way. Even with such a painful injury, she refuses to see a doctor.
"Rohan!" I called loudly, and he rushed over with Ananya, Inaya, and Maa.
"What happened, Bhai?" he asked.
"Go and bring an ice pack. Hurry," I instructed. Inaya responded quickly, "Bhai, I'll go and bring it," and she rushed off, returning swiftly with an ice pack. I applied it to her swollen ankle, and she winced in pain. Seeing her in pain clenched my heart.
"Beta, take Tara to the room and let her rest," Maa said gently. Carefully, I lifted her in my arms, ensuring not to aggravate her injury.
"Don't look at me like that. It's not my fault I twisted my ankle. It's these heels. They weren't my size, and that's why I lost my balance," she explained, but I stayed quiet, not looking at her.
"Adi... Okay, please don't be angry. I'm sorry. I should have been more careful," she said, pouting.
"Don't move, you'll hurt yourself more," I said sternly, looking at her with a mix of worry and frustration.
"Okay, I won't move. But please, stop being angry," she pleaded, but I didn't reply.
Once we reached our room, I gently placed her on the bed and sat in front of her , my eyes still filled with concern. "Tara, you need to take better care of yourself. I can't handle seeing you hurt."
