DECEMBER 23RD 1991

Luckily, after another show in Europe after their appearance on the Jonathan Ross show, the Nirvana boys were able to go back home and have a generous break before they were scheduled to perform with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pearl Jam at the end of the month.

Now that was pretty fucking exciting. Well― Alahna didn't quite get it as much as someone like Bonnie did but Dave sure was good at transmitting his thrill over the whole thing.

"You're coming, by the way." He had said to the girl. "There's no way your missing it. I refuse to meet these motherfuckers without you. I can't stand the idea of this happening and you not being there to experience it."

And it worked out great because both Alahna and Bonnie were free for the holidays. The former was needed at work until the 23rd though, but that was honestly okay with her.

It gave her a bit more time to think about the fact that she was spending both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Virginia with Dave, his mom and his sister.

He had asked her to go with him a couple days after coming back from England. She almost shat her pants at the very idea but she still didn't feel that she had properly repayed him for visiting her parents with her.

Alahna wanted to do this for him. It was going to happen sooner or later anyway.

She was scheduled to catch a plane three hours after her shift at the public library (Dave was already with his mom, helping out with last minute details and such), which meant that all she had to do was go back home, grab her bags that she'd already packed beforehand and be off. Bonnie was gonna go to the airport with her to catch her own plane to England; she was going to spend Christmas in England with her own family.

At least, that was the intent. Bonnie had been awfully sick lately.

In any case, Alahna's nerves were starting to get to her. Any time now her shift wuld be over and after that, she was off. No turning back, no more thinking things through.

I'm gonna be with Dave's family in less than twelve hours.

The main thing that soothed her nerves a little bit was that she had gifts for both Dave's mom and his sister. And for him, of course.

He had obviously taken part in the gift-giving and it was all from both of them, even though they'd agreed that Alahna would keep everything and bring it with her so as to not spoil anything for anyone ahead of time.

Both women were getting Best Mom Ever and Best Sister Ever mugs as well as passes to see Nirvana, the Peppers and Pearl Jam on the 27th. Plus, since Alahna knew that Virginia Grohl was a public school teacher and both her and her daughter were avid readers, she got them books: Delta of Venus by Anaïs Nin for Lisa and This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald for Virginia. Anna and Joy insisted on giving her a generous discount when she purchased them.
