"I've got something to ask you" Jungkook said. Jennie nodded at him. "Are you hiding something from me?" he asked. She paused to think about it and the first thing that came into her mind was Taehyung. He poked the side of his cheeks with his tongue as he waited for her to reply but she gave him no response.
"It's alright if you don't want to tell me" he said. She looked at him, trying to read him. He looked like he was finding words to phrase his thoughts.
"Why?" she finally asked. His face fell into confusion and he turned away from her. "Why did you suddenly think of that?" she tried to make her question more clear.
He sighed and looked at her. "The pendant. It's not any other pretty crystal worn as jewelry. It's.... dangerous. I don't want you to hide any details from me about anything that has happened the past few days. Even the most trivial thing can be a clue.A single lie will cost your life and I don't want that" he held her shoulders. "All I want to tell you right now is to be honest" His voice was stern and she sensed the seriousness. He wasn't joking around. He isn't even the type of person to joke around. She bit her lower lip as if she wanted him to explain her a bit more.
"I'll protect you" he said.
"But for that, I'd want you to tell me everything" he continued. She was extremely confused right now. Everything was a puzzle to her. She knew very well that she was in danger right now but didn't know what danger. She had no idea why trusting Jungkook was so hard if he only wanted to protect her.
Her life is a mess right now. An arranged marriage with Jungkook wasn't her worry. In fact, she knew Jungkook was a genuine person she can spend her life with. He has been there for her when she felt lost and when she had almost lost her life. Within just a week, he had found his way to her heart. Maybe not romantically enough but surely in every other way she could possibly think of.
This week was full of unfortunate events. Her friend's death, her guilt trip about hurting Taehyung, almost losing her life under some spell, an unknown maid trying something and most importantly memories of her dead mother.
She never wanted to revive those memories. She never wanted to remember Yeji again. She never wanted to hear that name again. She never wanted to see those things again. She doesn't want to remember what happened years ago.
"If I tell you, will you be able to handle the truth?" She questioned him. "Will you make sure everything will be fine? Will you make me happy and-" "Yes,Jennie. If you'll be honest with me about what bothers you, what made the situation like this, who could be involved, anything significant from the past. I'll make sure you'll be alright and happy. I won't let a single person or thing harm you." his eyes showed sincerity that she couldn't brush off.
"Early morning, make sure to come to my room. All the maids of Celestoria accompanying us to Nereida will be present there. Identify the one who gave you the pendant" He stated and was ready to walk out but stopped once. "If you make up your mind about telling me things you have hidden deep within you, I'll be there anytime"
