The young prince groaned in pain as his back landed against the rough ground. While running across the empty street, he had bumped into someone and tripped. "An empty street and you still chose to run into someone standing still" the female voice boomed. He looked up at the woman who was staring down at him. He'd be lying if he said that she wasn't the most beautiful woman he had laid eyes on. He stared at her awestruck.

"Can you get up?" She asked, extending her hand for him to grab. He grabbed her hand and stood back on his feet. She picked up her pace to leave after helping him. "Wait" he called out. She turned around. "May I know your name?" He asked, scratching his nape. She chuckled and replied "no" and walked away. He stood there dumbfounded.

"I want to marry her, father" The young prince cried. "KIM WOOSEOK. ROYAL BLOOD DOES NOT MEDDLE WITH FILTHY COMMONERS" The King yelled, slapping the face of the prince. The stinging red bruise hurt less than the pain he felt in his heart. The tears sliding down his cheeks mixed with the blood at the corner of his mouth, creating a painful harmony. "I LOVE HER" he yelled back.

The King's anger subsided and his expression softened slightly at the sight of his son on his knees, begging for the love of his life. "Let him live. Please" The queen cried. She sat in front of her son and cupped his face in her hands. Looking at his bruised face ached her heart. She turned around, gripping her husband's legs tightly, and begged for her son's happiness.

The king sighed. "I'll let you marry her" he began. Wooseok's face lit up hearing his words. "on one condition"

"If the baby has powers, kill it and put it in the box. Declare it dead" Yeji explained to the midwife, Sohee. Sohee was a cetusis who assisted Yeji's delivery. She nodded. She knew that Nereida's people had their own unique customs and beliefs. The practice of placing stillborn babies in a box and casting them into the ocean was one she had heard of but never witnessed firsthand. They believed that Nereida's ocean adored the children born on its land and would cherish them in its deep water.

As Sohee stood in the room, the weight of the situation pressed heavily on her shoulders. She couldn't believe what she was seeing - twins, one crying and one laughing, both with eerie differences that sent shivers down her spine. The crying baby had eyes with two different colors while the other laughed creepily. Yeji lay unconscious, completely unaware of the bizarre situation.

Sohee knew she had to act quickly. She couldn't bring herself to harm the laughing baby, despite its unsettling behaviour. With a heavy heart, she focused her energy and cast a spell on the crying baby, causing it to fall into a deep slumber. The room grew eerily quiet as the loud cries were silenced and the other baby stared at her with a piercing gaze.
