(The chapter is of the mehndi ceremony only, but it's from Shaurya's pov)
“Manjeet, what are you doing here?” I shouted at Manjeet as soon as I came out of the washroom after taking a bath.
“I thought you must be feeling lonely, without my Avni bhabhi, so I came to accompany you.” Manjeet replied, and I sighed at his words.
I walked towards my cupboard to take out the outfit for today, and Manjeet settled himself on the couch placed in my room.
I took out a blue colour shirt with a black pant but my actions halted listening to Manjeet.
“Bhai, don't you have any shirts in green?” he asked, I completely turned my attention to him, raising my eyebrows.
“I thought that Avni bhabhi is wearing a green colour saree so you must be matching clothes with her.” he continued with a clueless expression.
And for the first time I was happy because of his habit of hopping around. After making some excuses I sent Manjeet out of my room. And took out a green colour shirt for the day.
I was excited for today as I've taken up the charge of making sure all the decorations are perfect. I directed the workers to hang strings of lights, and made sure that the floral arrangements were just right.
As I moved through the garden, checking the placements of the fairy lights, my father approached me, his eyes held curiosity.
"You seem quite taken with making sure everything is perfect," he remarked, a smile playing on his lips.
I looked up, wiping a bead of sweat from my forehead. "I just want everything to be perfect for Tanya's wedding. She deserves the best."
My father nodded, his eyes twinkling. "And Avni? What does she deserve?"
I paused, a soft smile spreading across my face. "She deserves the world, papa. She's been so patient and supportive throughout all this. I just want to make sure she knows how much she means to me."
My father placed a hand on my shoulder. "She knows, Shaurya. Anyone can see how much you care for her. Just don't forget to take a moment for yourself in all this chaos."
I nodded, my heart warmed by my father's words. "Thanks, Dad. I’ll try."
As my father moved away to join other guests, I turned my attention back to the workers.
“Hey, make sure those lights are even!" I called out, my voice authoritative but kind. "And double-check the floral arrangements near the entrance. They need to be perfect.”
One of the workers, named Arjun, nodded vigorously. "Yes, sir. We'll take care of it."
“Thanks, Arjun. You're doing a great job.” I smiled appreciatively.
As I continued to oversee the preparations, Karan approached me with a grin on his face. And I had to admit that he is only sibling I thought is the normal one.
"Bhai, you've really outdone yourself this time. The place looks amazing."
I chuckled, shaking my head. "Thanks, Karan. Just trying to make sure everything goes smoothly."
Karan glanced around, his expression turning serious. "I heard Avni bhabhi has been mingling well with the family. Everyone seems to love her."
My face softened at the mention of Avni. "She fits in perfectly, doesn't she? I’m so lucky to have her."
Karan nodded in agreement. "Absolutely. And speaking of bhabhi, I saw her helping out with the mehndi ceremony. She's really getting into the spirit of things."
