The Engagement day
The morning of my engagement dawned with a mixture of anticipation and nerves that I couldn't even sleep peacefully all night.
The house was already alive with activity, the air filled with the aromas of freshly cooked delicacies and the soft hum of conversations.
I got out of bed and walked to the window, peeking through the curtains to see the garden transformed into a vibrant sea of marigolds and fairy lights. The meticulous planning, endless discussions, and sleepless nights were finally coming to fruition.
Today, I would be engaged to Shaurya, the man who had turned my world upside down and made me feel cherished in ways I never thought possible.
As I turned back to my room, I found Kaashi already waiting for me, a steaming cup of tea in her hands. "Morning, soon-to-be fiancée," she teased, handing me the cup.
"Morning," I replied, taking a sip and letting the warmth seep into my bones. "Is everything set?"
"Everything is perfect. You just need to focus on getting ready and enjoying your day," she assured me, her eyes twinkling with excitement.
I took a deep breath, nodding. "Okay. Let's do this."
I went to meet my family downstairs and talked with them, and in the late afternoon I started getting ready for the ceremony.
Kaashi helped me into my engagement outfit, a stunning pastel pink saree that shimmered softly under the twinkling lights.
The saree, woven from delicate silk and embellished with intricate silver zari work, draped perfectly over my slender frame.
I styled my hair into a loose bun and adorned it with a few fresh roses. My makeup was subtle yet enchanting, with a hint of shimmer on my eyelids, perfectly winged eyeliner, and a soft blush that gave my cheeks a natural glow. My lips, painted a delicate shade of rose, curved into a gentle smile that lit up my entire face.
"You look stunning, Avni," Kaashi said softly, her voice filled with emotion.
"Thanks, Kaashi. I can't believe this is actually happening," I replied, my voice trembling slightly.
"It is happening, and it's going to be amazing," she said, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze.
Just then, Kshitij walked in, looking dapper in his traditional attire. He leaned against the doorframe, a playful grin on his face. "Ready to become Mrs. Shaurya Singh?"
I laughed, feeling a wave of nerves dissipate. "Almost. I just need a moment to gather my thoughts."
"Take your time, sis. We're all here for you," he said, his tone comforting.
I nodded and watched as they left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, allowing myself to feel the gravity of the moment.
I looked at my mehendi adorned hands, as I realised that everything is turning into reality now.

The garden was a vision of splendor, with marigold garlands hanging from every archway and fairy lights twinkling like stars in the evening light.
As I walked down the steps, my heart pounded in my chest. I spotted Shaurya waiting at the center, his gaze locked on me.
He looked incredibly handsome in a finely tailored, deep navy blue suit, the rich hue complementing his dusky complexion his eyes filled with warmth and affection.
