The wedding ceremony was a beautiful blend of tradition and celebration. The groom arrived on a white horse, accompanied by a lively baraat, complete with dhol players and dancing relatives.
The baraat was a sight to behold, with men in colorful turbans and women in vibrant lehengas, everyone dancing and celebrating with unrestrained joy.
After the entrance of the baraat we made our way inside, I was greeted by my father, who looked every bit the proud parent.
"Shaurya, you did an excellent job with the arrangements. Everything looks perfect," he said, clapping me on the shoulder.
"Thanks, Dad. I couldn't have done it without everyone's help," I replied, scanning the crowd for Avni.
As I continued to walk through the decorated courtyard, I was pulled aside by Karan. "Bhai, come here! We need to finalize the seating arrangement for the family. Some last-minute changes," he said, dragging me along.
"Sure, let's get this sorted quickly," I said, trying to maintain my composure despite the whirlwind around me.
The venue was a vision of splendor. Bright marigold garlands hung from every archway, and fairy lights twinkled like stars in the evening light.
And soon, Tanya was led to the mandap, dressed in a breathtaking red and gold lehenga, the fabric rich and heavy with intricate embroidery. Her jewelry was equally stunning, with a delicate maang tikka resting on her forehead, and layers of necklaces adorning her neck.
Finally, I spotted Avni across the courtyard. My heart skipped a beat as I watched her interact with my family, her face lit up with a warm smile. She was effortlessly blending in, making everyone around her feel at ease.
After giving a last check on the arrangements, I made my way towards Avni, who was now sitting with my mother and some aunts. She looked up as I approached, her eyes sparkling.
"Hey there, busy man," she greeted me with a warm smile.
"Hey yourself. How are you holding up?" I asked, taking a seat beside her.
"Just fine. Your family is wonderful. They've been keeping me entertained," she replied, her tone light and affectionate.
"I'm glad to hear that. I've missed you," I said softly, my hand brushing against hers.
"I've missed you too," she replied, her fingers intertwining with mine.
And then we focused towards the mandap, where the rituals began. The air was filled with the chanting of mantras, and the fragrance of incense.
We both sat beside each other, with our hands intertwined, my heart swelling with emotion as I watched the sacred ceremonies unfold. I felt a deep connection to the traditions, knowing that soon, I and Avni, would share similar vows and rituals.
As the day progressed, the celebrations continued with a lavish feast and more dancing. And Avni was again swept into conversations with various relatives, each eager to share stories and blessings.
I walked away to check on the food arrangements, and I met some of my relatives, who congratulated me for my own wedding and praised me for the decorations.
After getting done with everything I walked back to Avni, and I saw her talking with Manjeet, and from distance I could faintly hear their conversation, which was about some traditional wedding games.
I walked to them, and placed a possessive hand on Avni's waist. "Manjeet, don't you have somewhere else to be?"
Manjeet grinned, as if he was clearly enjoying my jealousy. "Alright, alright. I'll leave you two lovebirds alone. But don't think you're getting rid of me that easily."As Manjeet walked away, I turned to Avni, my expression softening.
"Sorry about that. He can be a bit much."Avni laughed, touching my arm.
"It's fine. He's just being friendly. Besides, I like seeing this protective side of you."
I smiled, pulling her closer. "I can't help it. You drive me crazy, in the best possible way."
As the evening settled in and the stars began to twinkle above, the garden took on a romantic glow.
Lanterns flickered softly, casting a warm, golden light over the scene. The sounds of laughter and music filled the air, creating an ambiance of love and celebration.
I took Avni's hand, leading her away from the crowd to the gazebo, adjoined with the garden. I made her sit on the chair, and knelt in front of her.
“Shaurya, what are you doing?” she looked confused.
“You forgot something.” I said, and she looked more confused.
I slid my hand into the pocket of my sherwani and took out Avni's anklet which I found lying carelessly on the floor, when she went away to talk with the relatives.
I kept her right foot on my knee, as I made her wear the anklet, and placed a chaste kiss on the side of her calf. Her leg stiffened in my hold, as I smiled at her, keeping her leg down.
I slid my hand on her waist pulling her closer, our nose touching with each other's. "I've been waiting for this moment all day," I murmured, my lips brushing against hers.
"Me too," she whispered, her fingers threading through my hair.
Our kiss was slow and deep, filled with the promise of all the nights to come. As our lips parted, I looked into her eyes, my gaze intense.
“I love you.” we both said at the same time, and a smile appeared on our lips. I again took her into a sensual kiss, while my left hand rested on her neck, and the fingers of my free hand dug into the border of her waist chain.
I've been fucking obsessed with her waist chains since day one.
I parted away from her lips, “Oops, I ruined your lipstick.” I smirked, and with my stole, I gently wiped off the lipstick smeared around her lips. And did same with mine also.
And after making ourselves presentable we both walked back to the venue, where the preparations of Tanya's vidaai were getting started.
