4 months to go
My heart raced as I sat in the living room, listening to my father, and Shaurya's father, who arrived in Delhi a few days ago to discuss the wedding venue.
The two men were seated on the couch, sipping their tea and gesturing animatedly as they spoke.
"Udaipur is a great choice, Gurpreet ji," my father said, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "The city has so much character and charm. And the venues! Oh my, they're breathtaking."
Shaurya's father nodded, his turban bobbing up and down. "I agree, Udaipur is a fantastic choice. But we need to finalize a venue that can accommodate our guest list. We can't have our friends and family cramped into some small space."
My mind wandered as the two men continued to discuss the pros and cons of various venues.
I imagined myself walking down the aisle, the sun setting behind me, casting a warm glow over the proceedings. I pictured Shaurya's smile, his eyes shining with happiness as he gazed at me.
As the discussion went on, my phone buzzed on the coffee table. I discreetly picked it up, my heart skipping a beat as I saw Shaurya's name flashing on the screen.
You:
Hey! Are you done with your lectures?Shaurya🩷:
I'm almost done, only one lecture is left. How about you? How's the venue discussion going? You:
It's going! Papa and your dad are discussing the Oberoi Udaivilas. What do you think?Shaurya🩷:
I think it sounds amazing! I've heard great things about that venue. But what do you think? Is it what you envisioned for our big day? You:
I love it! I can totally see us getting married there. But I want to hear more about what you think. Can we talk later tonight?Shaurya🩷:
Of course, my love! I'll call you as soon as I'm free. Can't wait to hear your voice! With a smile I kept my phone on the table and heard my father's voice, raised in excitement. "I've got it! The Oberoi Rajvilas! It's the perfect venue. Luxurious, spacious, and with the most stunning gardens. Our guests will be blown away!"
Shaurya's father's face lit up. "The Oberoi! That's a fantastic choice, Sharma ji. But we need to ensure they can accommodate our specific requirements. You know how particular we Punjabis are about our food and music."
Just then my mother came out from the kitchen with some snacks, a warm smile on her face. "I'm sure it'll be fine, Gurpreet ji. We'll make sure to discuss all the details with the venue managers. After all, we want this wedding to be a memorable one for both our families."
As the discussion continued, my thoughts turned to Shaurya, and our earlier conversation, and wondered what he was thinking, if he was as excited as I was about our upcoming nuptials. I couldn't wait to see him, to talk to him about all the wedding plans.
But my reverie was shattered by my brother Kshitij's voice, piping up from the corner of the room. "Can we please talk about the music? I want to make sure we have the best DJ in town!"
I rolled my eyes good-naturedly. "Kshitij, this is not a party, it's a wedding!"
My father chuckled. "Let the kids have their fun, Avni. It's their day, after all."
As the conversation continued, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This was it – the beginning of our new life together. And I couldn't wait to see what the future held.
Later that night, after dinner, I laid in bed, my phone beside me. I was lost in thought, my mind racing with wedding plans and dreams of my future with Shaurya.
Suddenly, my phone rang, and I smiled, knowing it was Shaurya.
"Hey, my love," Shaurya's voice was low and husky, sending shivers down my spine.
"Hey, my everything," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. "I'm so glad we're finally talking. I feel like I've been waiting for this moment all day."
"I know, me too," Shaurya said. "I've been thinking about you nonstop. So, tell me, what did you think of the venue discussion today?"
And so we talked, our conversation flowing effortlessly from wedding plans to our dreams and aspirations. We teased each other, our banter laced with humor and love.
I couldn't believe how lucky I am to have found Shaurya. He's my rock, my partner in every sense of the word.
I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him. I love the way he makes me laugh, the way he always knows how to make me feel better when I'm down.
I love his kind heart, his generous spirit, and his beautiful smile. I love everything about him.
"Shaurya, I love you so much," and before I knew these words left my mouth, my voice filled with emotion.
"Avni, I love you too," Shaurya replied, his voice filled with conviction.
"You're my everything, my partner in every sense of the word. I can't wait to start this new chapter with you. I promise to always be there for you, to support you, to listen to you, and to make you laugh. I promise to be your rock, your safe haven, and your forever home."
He replied to all my thoughts that I've been thinking, and my heart skip a beat realising that he is someone who can read me like an open book.
As we talked, I felt my heart overflowing with love and gratitude. I knew that this was just the beginning of our journey together, and I couldn't wait to see what the future held.
Finally, as the first light of dawn crept into the sky, we reluctantly said our goodbyes, our hearts full of love and our spirits soaring.
"Goodnight, my love," Shaurya whispered.
"Goodnight, my everything," I replied, a smile still on my face as I drifted off to sleep, my heart filled with joy and my soul at peace.
