"He asked you to tutor him?" Eddie asked slowly. I nodded in disbelief as I looked up at him. "He just started here."
"I know." I said.
"Why does he need you to tutor him?" He asked another question.
"No idea." I shrug.
"Do you think tutor means something else?" Eddie asked. I averted my eyes as his tone darkened. "Caroline." He said my name dangerously calm. "If he puts his hands on you-"
"He won't." I clarify.
"And if he does-"
"Eddie." I begged.
"Don't listen to him, Caroline." Jeff interrupted as he began packing his bag. "He's just jealous that another guy will have your attention."
I roll my eyes at his comment that caused an uproar of laughter. My cheeks slightly blush at the thought of Eddie actually being jealous. I know it can't be true, but if it was...that would mean he had feelings for me.
Which he doesn't.
"Shut up, Jeff." Eddie snapped.
"You all are exhausting." I mumble loud enough for them all to hear. Jeff acts offended as I grab my things and begin my walk home.
"Caroline." Eddie rushed over to me as I walk out of the garage and down the driveway. "Let me drive you home."
"I'm a few houses down. I'll be alright." I told him without stopping my pace. "Plus, the less rides with you, the better."
"You're such a brat." Eddie said before throwing his arm around my shoulders and pulling me into a hug. I groan in annoyance as he squeezes me tight.
"Get off." My words are muffled from being squished to his chest.
"But I love you." He said in a baby voice before kissing my head then swinging me back and forth.
"Edward Munson." I threaten.
"You're no fun." Eddie abruptly let me go. I had to take a step back to steady my balance. I glared at him in response before flipping him off. He chuckled with that stupid smirk on his face that always made me swoon. I had to keep strong, though. Maybe I should replace my romantic thoughts of Eddie with Billy. God, no, I should not do that. That's a recipe for disaster.
"Can I at least walk with you?" He begged.
"No." I told him sternly before turning on my heel and disappearing into the darkness.
I listened to him grumble to himself about how stubborn I am before he went back to his bandmates.
I pulled my jacket tighter around me as the fall breeze blew by, nipping at my face. The sun was beginning to set, telling me I was going to be late to movie night if I didn't hurry. So, I pushed my legs to walk faster down the street.
I was about to approach my house when I heard loud rock music playing from a distance. I wrote it off as one of the neighborhood kids and ignored it. Well, I did until I noticed the rumbling of a fast approaching car. I immediately rolled my eyes and turned around, knowing Eddie was approaching.
I went to flip him off, per usual, until I noticed it wasn't his shitty van. It was a blue Camaro going at an awfully dangerous speed. I watched as it began to slow down the closer it got to me. My heart raced, automatically going through every scenario that could possibly take place.
I'm about to be kidnapped. I'm going to be shot. I'm going to die.
I turned away and began walking again. I kept my books close to my chest, hoping they would protect me enough from any bullets.
