Ch 15: Happening in Space II

After introducing themselves, Ed introduced the people with him. He had brought along two engineers, two medical staff members, and one security officer.

Kodai also introduced the bridge crew of the Yamato and guided Ed and his team to the engine room.

"So, how did you guys end up here?" Ed asked as he watched his engineering crew assess the ship's engine.

"Well, we were on our way home from Iskandar when we were suddenly intercepted by a massive ship. We don't know who they were or what they wanted, but as soon as they made contact, they attacked us. Our weapons were ineffective and couldn't even penetrate their shields. We escaped by jumping to warp, but they caught up with us and disabled our warp engine, leaving us stranded here," Kodai explained.

"A massive ship, and they casually left you guys out here? That's new," Ed remarked.

"Sir, we're done with the assessment," one of the engineers reported.

"Tell me your findings," Ed requested.

"Yes, sir. Their warp engine is damaged beyond repair, and it's impossible to fix without putting the ship in a dry dock and replacing the warp engine. Their shields and other weapon systems are damaged, but we can fix those within a few minutes using D.O.T.S. Their life support is functioning perfectly fine. It's a good thing their backup generators are working, but I advise that all crew members be temporarily moved to the Discovery since this ship is unstable," the chief engineer reported. Ed nodded and spoke.

"Okay, then get started on fixing the shields. We'll need to tow this ship back to Star Base 120. Also, Captain Kodai, I will gladly welcome you and your crew aboard the Discovery," Ed said, looking at Kodai with a reassuring expression.

"It's much appreciated, Captain," Kodai replied.

After a while, the Discovery entered a synchronized orbit with the Yamato and began transferring the Yamato's crew to the Discovery. A few engineers also went to the Yamato to fix its shields.

Once every crew member of the Yamato was on board, Ed instructed his crew to assist them and give them a tour of the ship.

"This ship is huge," Yuuki said as she looked around.

"Well, this is just a science vessel. You should see the Galaxy class-it's three times bigger than this ship," Ed said as he continued to show the Yamato bridge crew around, from the mess hall to the observation area to the med bay. Their last destination was the bridge, but while in the turbolift, the ship suddenly shook involuntarily.

"What in the world?" Ed exclaimed as the turbolift doors opened, and he immediately asked, "Helm, what just hit us?"

"I don't know, sir. Scans didn't detect anything."

"Then find something!" Ed ordered.

"Umm, Captain, I think I know what just hit us," the security officer said as she looked out the viewing windows. There, they saw a massive wormhole with lightning strike coming out of it.

"What the heck is that?" Ed asked.

"No... it... it can't be..." Yuuki's voice was shaking as she held onto Kodai's arm.

"If you guys know something, now is the time to tell us," Ed urged.

"Ed, that anomaly-we encountered it before on our way back to our world. A massive ship came out of it and attacked us," Kodai said, looking at the wormhole with mixed emotions.
