His lips were...incredibly soft. And warm. And I honestly—though this was probably due to the sunshine boldening me—kissed back, enjoying the comfort of another person who cared about me. Enough to stay up all night just to make sure I was safe. I know, it was more than likely a dumb reason...it was incredibly nice to have people who cared so deeply for me.
Sure, it very well could have been the sunshine talking, as it was probably the strongest alcohol I think I have ever ingested, but as Narvi shifted into my lap, all thoughts left my mind as he placed his hands against the exposed part of my chest. And when those sinful lips began working their way to my neck, I couldn't help but wonder where he had learned how to do this. I mean, he grew up in a forest, right? Did he have a lover amongst the travelers he had mentioned?
At this point, I was more than a little tipsy, and thus my mouth was seemingly an entity of its own as I had the "bright" idea to ask him... "Have you done this before?"
Narvi halted his kisses and pulled back—his cheeks pinkened, and lips moistened. "No." He then went back to pressing soft kisses against my throat and my confusion heightened, as Narvi seemed...incredibly good at what he was currently doing.
When I voiced this, Narvi once again pulled away from me, his gaze searching mine. I was admittedly...intrigued when he nibbled his bottom lip and glanced away from me, as Narvi wasn't exactly a...shy individual, when it came to what he wanted.
"I.." Narvi began, the moon dragon peeking at me, "like to watch. I-It's fascinating how much trust you can give an individual. Letting your walls down like that..." he inhaled, "I met more people than just the two of you...but," he cupped my cheek and fully looked at me now, "I was never as open about myself with them as I am with you and with Alaban. I've...never felt comfortable with revealing too much of myself...not until now. I-I want to share my trust with you, Drakell."
I knew I should have felt a little bit embarrassed that Narvi liked to...watch Alaban and I—he was a lot sneakier than I initially gave him credit for, it seems—but in the midst of my now drunken haze, I-I felt that I-I liked the thought of him watching us from the shadows. Which was never a thought I thought I ever would have ever had, but it wasn't one I detested at all.
And on the other hand...I hadn't realized how much he cared for us. Opening up and trusting us with who he was as a person? I couldn't help how the warmth blossomed in my chest, and in a bold move, I cupped his face and kissed him deeply—the moon dragon phased for only a moment before he kissed back, cupping my face tightly.
His free hand once again dropped to my chest, his lithe fingers tracing every dip and curve as he mentally mapped me out. I, in turn, caressed his hips and thighs, silently wishing there was less fabric between his skin and my touch.
Then, all of a sudden, Narvi went tense and pulled away from me—his attention now on high alert as those light eyes of his peered towards the direction of one of the windows. It was as if ice water had been poured over me as a sudden fear began to fester within, my eyes immediately drifting over to where the moon dragon was staring.
"I heard something," Narvi whispered, causing fear to transform into dread. He got off of me, gaze never leaving the window, and made his way over—his steps silent.
My heart hammered in my chest and the hairs on the back of my neck raised. The person who wanted to kill me was here. I was intuitive enough to know they were here. But where were they? What evil thing did they have planned for me? And most importantly, why. I wanted to know their reasonings, because if I had done something to anger them, I wanted to know.
And I wanted to know on my own terms.
Perhaps it was the alcohol talking, or perhaps it was because I was just sick of the fates trying to kill me, but I ended up grabbing my sword and stalking out of my home, my gaze peering into the darkness beyond. It was still cold, and it was windy, and when I glanced towards the sky, heavy, thick clouds obscured the moon. Which meant there was no light source.
Being this late in the night, no lanterns in homes were lit, no campfires ablaze, and it was incredibly dark. But I strained to see as much as I could, my hand numb from gripping my sword so tightly. Narvi appeared beside me only a second later, his gaze peering intensely around us.
"Do you hear him?" I muttered under my breath, my gaze briefly finding the shadowed form of the moon dragon.
After a moment of intense listening, Narvi slowly shook his head, though that did not stop him from beginning to move—his steps light, and cautious. My heart sounded loud in my ears, but I did my best to listen out for anything that wasn't rustling leaves, or something that could tell me where this individual was.
I didn't even realize I had begun walking, not until I suddenly found that I was now alone. I had been concentrating so hard on trying to listen for my would-be killer, that I wandered off from Narvi.
Or...had I been led away?
After all, we had established that this individual was someone in the village, someone that could wield magic. Could this be part of their plan to separate me from the others?
Dread immediately pierced my heart once more, and I immediately turned back around to head back to where I had last seen Narvi. I managed to find my way back—by the grace of the gods—however, Narvi was no longer there, and I began to frantically look around, trying to catch sight of him.
"Narvi?!" I called out, now not caring if I drew attention. "Narvi?!" Panic began to settle in me when the moon dragon didn't respond, and my instinct was to run as fast as I could to get Alaban and pray his magic could help us.
So I turned towards our home and darted inside, and as soon as I rushed into the room, Alaban was darting up with an alerted expression on his tired face. "Drakell? What's wrong?" He got up from the bed and grabbed my shoulders. "What's going on?"
"D-Danger is here, a-and Narvi is missing. I-I can't find him and I was only gone a moment."
Alaban wasted no time in magically conjuring boots on himself, before the both of us rushed back out into the night air—the wind now thrashing harshly, alerting us of a coming storm. "Narvi! Where are you?!" Alaban yelled, his hands glowing as he conjured up a magical source of amber light, illuminating the area immediately around us.
And I-I noticed a strange...shimmer of something to the left of us. And it wasn't a shimmer of silver, or anything made from metal...it was like a magical shimmer that reacted when Alaban used his magic.
"There," I mentioned to the sun dragon before cautiously making my way to where I had seen said shimmer. My sword was held tightly in my hands and Alaban's form appeared next to me, his amber gaze following mine.
"What did you see?" He inquired with haste, his hands igniting with an amber glow.
"A shimmer. On the ground there. It...It reacted when you used magic."
Alaban followed where I pointed, his gaze intense before he muttered something under his breath and drew something in the air—amber light flashing before a deep hole suddenly appeared on the ground. As if it had been...cloaked with magic.
My heart pounded in my chest, and I rushed to the edge. Horror gripped me like a vice and stole the breath from me when I saw what within. It was about ten feet deep, crudely dug out by either a tool, or hands—I couldn't tell. What nearly had me fainting was the thin, jagged spikes that were stuck upright on the bottom, and there...in the center was Narvi's barely conscious body—the moon dragon impaled through the thick of his leg.
