Before they left, the three made sure their services were no longer required for a while. Lloyd seemed distraught by their lack of confidence in him. However, he did prove to be useful. He showed them all of their equipment, their battle plans, and a few secret weapons created by a loyal ally of the king.

Harry was glad to see so many of Joseph's gadgets being useful. It seemed they only had the upper hand because of him. Harry wondered how the cure for her mother was going. She wondered if her mother would be awake and waiting for her to return.

The three were provided two carriages sent by the king. One was for Terrance, and the other was for Harry and Kahil. The trip would still take them eight days, but they would be comfortable during that time.

Harry and Kahil worried about how the king would react to them when they returned, especially Harry. Would he be happy, sad, or mad to see her? Kahil tried his best to convince her he'd be happy, but he wasn't too convinced of it himself.

The trip back seemed to have flown by. Harry and Kahil waved Terrance off whenever their carriages' paths began to divert. When they arrived back at the palace, it looked new. The damaged wall from the explosion had been long well fixed. The whole place was shiny and sparkly. Harry wondered if it only appeared that way since she was used to seeing the ruins of one.

The carriage pulled around, and multiple servants ran out to help them. A butler eagerly helped Harry and Kahil out of the carriage. The servants sang the two many words of praise. They expressed their sincere concern about them and how glad they all were that they had returned mostly unharmed.

"His Majesty will be pleased to hear you've returned!" cheered a butler.

Harry didn't believe it until she saw him. He stood at the entrance of the palace looking like a wreck. He seemed to be making himself presentable before he headed over to them. Slowly, he began to walk toward them.

Harry felt her heart ting as he got closer. She wondered what he would say to her. She expected to be reprimanded, but instead, the king stared down, examining them. After a long while, he finally said something.

"Harry. Kahil."

"Father," they replied in unison.

The king extended his arms, and the three slowly moved into an awkward hug.

"I'm glad the two of you made it back safe."

Harry couldn't see his face, but his tone made her think he was telling the truth.

She and Kahil hugged him back; it appeared they had both missed him and their home more than they had thought.

Eventually, the king let them go and led them back inside. Harry hoped to see her mother waiting for her, but the only ones waiting were the servants. The king immediately called for a doctor and had the two examined, Harry was fine, but Kahil would have to rest for a long time. The poison seemed to have some hidden properties, and he still had some trouble doing daily tasks. Joseph was called in to see him, and he seemed to know exactly what he was dealing with.

Joseph got to work as soon as he could. He had been granted a new workspace in the palace for convenience purposes. Like everything he made, the cure would also take a long time to make. Harry wanted to ask him how the cure for her mother was coming along, but she could ask him later.

Harry immediately indulged in the luxuries of a princess. She bathed, ate her fill, and rested in her comfortable bed. Paula and her other maids doted on her. They wanted to hear about everything that happened after she left. As Harry recounted her time on the battlefield, a few of the maids passing by the halls happened to hear her and walked into her room to join in on the story time.
