Lloyd was confident in himself and his army's abilities to beat the magic army. They had supplies that now had the power to stop them, not to mention all of the information the second princess shared with him about her discoveries on the matter. He and his army would defeat them before the prince, princess, and the earl's son could return.

Lloyd shared all of this knowledge with his fellow commanders, and together they all came up with a plan to beat them. They had no use for normal gear anymore; they would only rely on the magic technology to win.

Lloyd marched his army to the battlefield. They always fought at the same place. Lloyd didn't think the enemy's leader was very smart in that context. He should've relocated them the moment his group began to lose. Lloyd did have to thank that foolish leader though. It made it easier for them since they already knew where they were at.

Everyone crouched down and waited in hiding as they were reminded of the plan one last time.

"Toss your useless metal swords away! We have no use for them now. Only use the new weapons we were provided with to fight against the monstrosities."

Some of the knights had been hesitant to toss out their perfectly capable swords, and some still were.

"There's no use for them! Throw them out!" Lloyd glared at the stubborn bunch. "If you won't listen, it's best if you guys go back to your homes and your loving families. But when you do, you better tell them why you are coming back home uninjured while there's still a battle raging on."

The hesitant knights grew less hesitant and tossed their old weapons to the ground and in return, were given new ones.

"Now, that's what I like to see," said Lloyd with a grin. "Let's go; we'll approach quietly and give them the good ol' sneak attack!"

The large army slowly wrapped around the building. It was easier to sneak without the sound of the leaves around them, although the snow brought its own difficulties.

A few made it to the palace and slowly wrapped around the building. Others were still trying to catch up. Lloyd stayed back to help some of his fellow comrades make it up the slippery slope. He'd help them make it to the palace walls with some honor at the very least.

Once there were enough men in position, Lloyd turned to the small boy who was called Aiden. He was new to the army and wasn't that good with his sword. Lloyd had given him the task of starting the battle. He gave a small nod to the boy, who took a long breath before viciously blowing into a small horn. It made the worst music note that Lloyd had ever heard before in his life, but it was good enough to summon the troops to battle.

Everyone began to run and shout, and some stormed into the palace. Lloyd wanted to hurry in to help them fight, but one of his men kept lagging behind the rest.

He would take as many as three steps before he'd crash into the snowy ground. Lloyd continued to help him up regardless of whether it was tedious or not.

"Come on," he said in an attempt to rush the man. "We need to go!"

After what must have been his tenth fall, the man said, "I'm fine, Captain; go without me."

Lloyd didn't want to do that, but he didn't have a choice. He nodded and began to move faster up the slope by himself. He turned back to look at the stragglers one last time.

The moment he turned his back, he heard screams. They weren't the screams of the enemies, but they were his army. As he hurried to find out what happened, his men all came running down the slope and rolling down it.

"What happened?" Lloyd shouted. No one answered him, so he had to grab a scared knight to ask him directly. "What happened?"

"Captain!" yelled the man in a trembling voice. "It's bad! We weren't prepared!"

Lloyd's eyes fell on the knight's weapon. It was shattered. It was one of the new weapons too. The ones designed to take on the magic army.

Suddenly, the ground began to rumble. The loud sounds and rumbling grew intenser and louder. Soon, it was visible. Multiple giant monsters emerged from the ruins. They were bigger than five of the knights stacked on top of each other. They seemed to be made of a purple crystal. Their bodies were hard and deformed. Lloyd watched in horror as the knight's weapons were destroyed on impact with the monsters' bodies.

The monsters, in retaliation, picked up the knights and launched them across the field. Lloyd watched as they all scattered to get away but failed. As he stood glued to the sight, he came to one devastating conclusion: they were not strong enough to take on the magical army.
