The mysterious people led Harry up the hills. She wondered where they were taking her and why, but she couldn't ask. They were a very talkative bunch, but Harry had no idea what they were saying.
Whenever her pace slowed down, the biggest man shouted at her. He had long flowing blonde hair and light blue eyes.
"Kosartch movre!"
Harry could understand those words. Keep moving.
She kept walking until they led her to the girl Harry had seen at the top of the hill. She was getting so close to the girl that she could see her whole face now in full detail.
She was sitting on a stump. She didn't look to be much older than Harry was. Her skin was very pale, and her hair was as white as the snow around her. She looked up at Harry, and the moment their eyes met, Harry could see the girl's very pale, almost clear blue eyes. She blinked the snow off her lashes, revealing long eyelashes that were white like her hair.
The man who led Harry to the girl bowed, and everyone who came along with them bowed to her too. The girl stared blankly as the man stood up and spoke. This time, Harry had no idea what he was saying.
"My queen, what should we do with the intruder?"
The girl looked at Harry. She continued to wear the same bored expression.
"Nothing."
The man looked at her frantically. He began speaking a lot faster than before, "But it isn't safe to keep her here! She knows where we are now!"
The girl twirled a strand of her white hair around on her finger. "Last time I checked, you aren't the queen, I am."
The man looked over at Harry and then back at the girl again. "Zoy, Babblese."
"Leave us."
The man shot an angry look at Harry and then grumpily walked away. A few old ladies came behind Harry and said things in a very judging manner. She wondered what they were all saying, but she felt like she was better off not knowing. The girl looked at Harry and began to attempt to speak with her.
"Hey, you, girl."
Harry wondered if she should bow. "Um . . . y-yes?"
"Are you from the Cardiaire Kingdom?"
Harry was certain she heard the girl say Cardiaire. "I'm from the Cardiaire Kingdom. My name is Harry."
The girl tilted her head to the side. "Harry?" she called awkwardly.
Harry smiled. "Yes, Harry! What is your name?"
The girl smiled and answered her. "My name is Sia."
"Sia, huh," replied Harry. "That's a lovely name." She paused. "Wait!" she shouted. "I can understand you! Can-can you understand me?"
"Of course, I can," answered Sia. She seemed unamused. "I know how to speak your language, after all."
"You can?"
"You can hear me."
Harry laughed; she didn't know what to say now. "Are you also from the Cardiaire Kingdom?" she asked.
"No," Sia answered as she turned around to look at the palace off in the distance. "As you can see, we live on the outskirts of the kingdom."
Now that Harry thought about it, Sia was right. The village marked the end of the kingdom.
"Does everyone here live on the outskirts of the kingdom?" Harry asked.
Sia grinned. "Oh?" she chuckled. "Are you interested in us? Do you want to learn our ways?"
