The two armies stared at each other. They were at a silent standstill. Varian seemed to be waiting for Kahil to make the first move; it was the same for Kahil. Harry thought their standstill would last for an eternity, but it was over in an instant. Varian and Kahil both sent their armies forward.
Harry wondered if Varian would stay and fight them head-on this time, but she already guessed what his plan would be. Sending the majority of his army forward, he took a few ten soldiers or so with him. They diverged from their original path and made their way deeper into the woods. Harry knew he was trying to find the path that led passed Joseph's house and back to the palace.
Harry wanted to shout that he was getting away again, but before she could, Kahil took those exact words out of her mouth. They watched as Varian took the lead. They tried to chase after him immediately, but his soldiers came clashing their swords with theirs. Harry and Kahil both managed to block them and send their enemies' swords flying.
"Come on, Harry!" Kahil shouted as he began to race after Varian. Harry was quick to follow after. With their speed, they were able to quickly catch up to Varian. He was in their sights when a familiar golden light slashed down at the ground in front of them.
Nathaniel emerged from behind the trees. "Not so fast Your Royal Highnesses," he said in a distinctly dark voice.
"Nathaniel," Harry called. She wasn't feeling shocked or scared. She was simply staring at him, although her expression could say she felt both emotions at the same time.
"Nathaniel, huh?" asked Kahil as he moved his sword in front of the boy. "I haven't seen you this close up in a while."
Nathaniel was silent for a second before he smiled and replied with a voice filled with hostility, "It's been a while since we last spoke, Your Highness. When was the last time again?" Nathaniel took a moment to act as if he were thinking hard on the subject. "Ah, that's right, it was right before you imprisoned me in that terrible tower." He began to laugh. "I've always wanted to fight you. I guess dreams really do come true."
Kahil returned Nathaniel's disposition. "Interesting; I'll take you on."
Within less than a second, both their smiles vanished showing their true feelings.
"Wait!" Harry shouted as she put her hand out blocking Kahil from moving forward. "I'll take him on."
Kahil glanced over at her. "Harry are you sure?" he asked worriedly.
She nodded and answered, "You need to hurry and catch up with Varian. You're the only one who stands a chance of defeating him."
Kahil sighed and replied, "Okay." He then hesitantly started through the woods after Varian.
Harry closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths as she mentally prepared to face Nathaniel again. She already knew that facing him the first time was difficult; she had barely won against him, but the second time? She didn't have a lot of confidence in her victory.
"Now then," called Nathaniel. Harry watched in slight horror as he pulled out the biggest and sharpest sword she had ever seen. He stared at her with darkened eyes. "Shall we begin, Princess?"
Harry quickly got in position; if she were to succeed against him the second time, she would have to be the one to strike first.
Nathaniel rolled his head around and added, "Oh, and it's only fair to warn you that I won't be falling for any more of your little stories."
