JenniferMr. Reynolds set my bangs which have dried by now, "Come," He said softly and then took my hand in his-which felt like the most natural thing to do-and we navigated our way to the costume store through the map I was holding.
I changed into a simple black turtleneck top with long sleeves, long black skirt with slit in the front and black high boots. He paid for it even though I tried to make him go look for something while I sneakily paid, however he was one step ahead as he was able to see through my tricks.
"Let's leave this place." I suggested after stepping out of the store. Seriously, I might literally faint if Mr. Lee spotted me with Mr. Reynolds this time.
Even though I bought a mask and scarf to cover up, I am still not feeling any better. I can't take risks. Mr. Lee took Mr. Reynolds name for god's sake. Should I tell him? I don't want to be superstitious but I believe if I took Mr. Lee's name out loud he might actually appear before us along with his family.
"What's wrong? What happened when I wasn't around? Did something bad happen? Tell me and I'll fix it." He said pleadingly as he cupped my face over the mask.
"Nothing happened. I'm tired, that's all." I would need to tell him about my fake boyfriend story as well which I don't want to bring up anytime soon.
"If you don't want to tell me then that's okay just don't lie to me that you are okay when you are clearly not." He shook his head and walked ahead leaving me, making me follow him by a little run. Oh man, he walks fast.
This is ridiculous. Why am I keeping a secret when Mr. Lee would probably ask Mr. Reynolds about him being at the Adventure Park anyway?
I should tell him so I grabbed his hand to stop him from walking any further and bridged the gap, "Listen. I'm sorry. I wasn't sure how to tell you. But Mr. Lee spotted me here along with his family."
"Adam is here." He groaned as if he's shocked. "I thought he said he won't be able to make it because his daughter was sick or something."
"How do you know that?" I whispered and looked around to make sure no concerned person was here.
"I gave him three tickets." My mouth hung open. He gave tickets to him knowing we might run into them. How confident or stupid is he?
"You had more tickets but you said you only had two." I countered.
"I gave it to him way before you saw the tickets. I had five in total." That makes sense. But he should have told me that earlier. I look down at my shoes. Regret over the past is wasted energy.
"Did he say something?" He put his fingers under my chin and tilted my head up to look at him.
"He said he saw you with me but thankfully this guy I met there told him that he was with me all this time and pretended to be my fake boyfriend." I looked down again. This is so messed up. If it weren't for my crush on him then we would have never been in this situation as I would never go out with a professor.
He's in this mess because of me.
"So everything's settled then, right? If he asks me then I'll just say his eyesight is getting weak. You need to calm down. You'll probably never meet this guy again so no need to worry." He put both his hands on my mask-covered cheeks to make me look at him. I wanted to show him my hand with the said guy's number on it but I decided not to. I can make one of dad's trusted men return the jacket to him in my stead anonymously. Brilliant! No need to meet him in person ever again.
