Ryan
It's my first day as a college professor as I only visited once for administrative work. Technically, it's the second day since I had taken leave yesterday because my sister came back from Australia after enjoying her vacation with friends. So I had to go pick her up from the airport. My sister and I have been very close since childhood. Everyone in my family has spoiled her and always treats her like a princess. After picking her up from the airport, we spent the whole day catching up and watching her favourite Disney movies.
I went directly to the principal's office for some work that needs to be done first. When I got out of the office, I noticed many people watching me with curious and dreamy eyes. Haven't they seen a strikingly handsome man before? I guess not. A woman approached me batting her eyelashes with a pile of makeup sitting on her face.
"Jass, I'm a professor here too. I'm guessing you are the one who visited a day before yesterday for administration purposes and caused havoc in here with your charming looks." She said, still trying to look seductive.
"Yes, that's me." I replied politely.
"By the way, I can show you around." She grinned. She then leaned closer to whisper so only I could hear, "I can show you a lot more than I'm offering, outside the premises, you know." She winked.
"I don't think that would be necessary." I said smirking and left her before she could say anything else. To be honest, I don't want to waste my time talking to someone who is clearly interested in me when I am not even the slightest bit attracted to her. I never understand how people could be dating people they don't see a future with.
I was navigating my way towards my office first before heading to my first class, passing a few lecture halls, then entering the other building and immediately taking a right at the end of the hallway. Out of nowhere, a girl came up running, startling me.
We bumped into each other if it weren't for her reflexes that she was able to keep up a tiny bit of distance between our lips. I couldn't see her face because within a matter of seconds she looked down. She is wearing a red top and light blue ripped jeans with black sandals. Her brown hair, put above her head in a ponytail and I can see some loose strands of hair framing her face. But still she hadn't looked up.
I almost didn't notice the various bookmarks laying at our feets. Maybe she likes to read.
“It wasn't intentional.” She said haphazardly—without once looking up at me—about to leave so I grabbed her hand, “Wait.”
“You dropped your bookmarks.” I pointed it out to her as I bent down to retrieve it but before I could do so she hurried away saying, “I know, you can keep it. B-bye.” What? I looked up only to find her taking steps backwards. And then without thinking she stepped on my hand with her freaking high heel. The bite down my lip to stop from screaming at the pain I felt. No girl has ever stepped on my hand.
“I'm really sorry. I need to go.” She just ran away leaving me on the ground collecting her things with my hand in pain. How could she? She ran fast. Is she an athlete?
I really wanted to see her face.
What are you thinking Ryan? Just go to your lecture hall to teach. She must be a student here and I can't think of a student like that. Exactly what was I even thinking?
Most importantly, she stepped on my freaking hand, it hurts.
Now, I need a pain reliever first.
