The camp was a hive of activity, with soldiers and healers rushing back and forth.
The night was chaotic, filled with the moans of the wounded and the shouts of commands.
Torches cast flickering shadows that danced on the tents, creating an atmosphere of urgency and despair.

Percival moved with practiced efficiency, his hands deftly handling bandages and herbal remedies. Despite the chaos around him, he managed to maintain an air of calm. His focus was unyielding, his every action precise.
He had been through countless nights like this one, but something felt different tonight. It was a subtle tension, an awareness that kept drawing his gaze to the other side of the tent where Caddion worked tirelessly.

Caddion was a mystery to Percival. A man of few words, he carried an aura of quiet strength.
His hands, though rough from years of battle, moved with surprising gentleness as he tended to the injured. There was a grace to his movements, a dedication that Percival found himself admiring more and more.

The two men had worked side by side for weeks, their interactions mostly professional.
Yet, there was an unspoken bond forming between them, a connection that neither could fully understand or acknowledge.
It was as if their souls recognized each other in a way that defied explanation.

As the night wore on, the demands of their duties only intensified. Percival found himself reaching for a roll of bandages at the same moment that Caddion did.
Their hands brushed against each other, a fleeting touch that sent a jolt of electricity through both men. The contact was brief, but it was enough to make them both freeze.

Percival’s breath caught in his throat, his heart pounding. He glanced up, meeting Caddion’s gaze. The intensity in Caddion’s eyes mirrored his own surprise and longing.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still. The chaos around them faded into the background, leaving only the two of them, locked in an unspoken moment of connection.

Caddion was the first to look away, his cheeks flushed.
He muttered an apology and quickly busied himself with his work, but the awkwardness in his movements betrayed his own flustered state. Percival’s hand lingered for a moment longer, the warmth of Caddion’s touch still tingling against his skin.

The night continued, but the atmosphere between them had shifted. There was a new tension, a charged awareness that neither could ignore. Every glance, every accidental brush of their hands, was laden with unspoken emotions.
Percival found it increasingly difficult to concentrate, his thoughts constantly drifting back to that brief moment of contact.

As the last of the wounded were finally seen to and the camp began to quiet down, Percival felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. He sat down on a makeshift bench, rubbing his temples.
The night had been long and grueling, but his mind was still racing.

He looked up to see Caddion standing a few feet away, hesitating.
There was a vulnerability in his expression that Percival had never seen before.
Caddion took a step closer, then another, until he was standing right in front of Percival. He opened his mouth as if to speak, then closed it again, struggling to find the right words.

“Percival,”

he finally said, his voice low and uncertain.

“About earlier… I didn’t mean to—”

“It’s alright,”

Percival interrupted gently.

“You don’t have to apologize.”

Caddion let out a sigh of relief, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
He sat down beside Percival, their shoulders almost touching. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
The silence between them was comfortable, a shared understanding that words were not needed.

“I’ve never felt like this before,”

Caddion admitted quietly, his eyes fixed on the ground.

“It’s confusing.”

Percival nodded, his own emotions a whirlwind of confusion and longing.

“Me neither,”

he confessed.

“But… I think it’s something worth exploring.”

Caddion looked up, his eyes meeting Percival’s with a mixture of hope and uncertainty.

“Do you really think so?”

Percival reached out, his hand hovering hesitantly before resting on Caddion’s. The touch was gentle, but it carried a promise.

“I do.”

The warmth of Caddion’s hand beneath his own was comforting, grounding him in a way he hadn’t expected.
They sat in silence, their hands intertwined, drawing strength from each other.
The chaos of the night seemed a distant memory, replaced by the quiet promise of something new and beautiful.

As the first light of dawn began to creep over the horizon, Percival and Caddion knew that whatever lay ahead, they would face it together.

Their bond, forged in the crucible of battle and tempered by the gentle touch of affection, was unbreakable.
