DYING WAS A GIVEN for assassins, they treated their life as a take and give. Those who were too weak to survive were left to die and the strong ones rose to the top of the world.

You knew the risks of joining hands with Uzuki. You knew him and he knew you, despite your carefree and monotone facade you always had to fear it being your last day.

The moment you two shook hands you already sealed your fate, even if you died it wouldn't be so bad dying besides your friends and your unrequited lover.

That so-called unrequited lover was a boy named Gaku. The boy you knew since childhood and went through with training. Harsh places should have created cold kids but you just couldn't tear your eyes away from him.

It wasn't a major mission, just a simple killing mission between you and Gaku.

The target was merely a thorn on the side of Uzukis path to his goal and perhaps you were the weed alongside that thorn.

Upon meeting the person you couldn't exactly identify his fighting style. "Are you two here to kill me?" It was a rhetorical question.

"Sure, why not?" You stretched your limbs and prepared for the battle. The boy with dark curly and wispy hair looked you up and down. "Sure, just come at me if you want." Something about his tone set off the alarms in you. This was a narrow path so only one person at a time could jump him.

Gaku already went ahead and wanted to smash him into soup with his maze but something stopped him.

"Threads?" He took a step back. He tried to destroy the threads by force but they were surprisingly resistant. The target was on the opposite side of the alley with seemingly no way to reach him. Well at least for people who didn't practice gymnastics until their bones broke.

You looked at Gaku and he nodded at you. He grabbed a handful of dirt and threw it into the alley. It was just a natural assumption that the dirt would stick to the threads.

You stormed through the parkour of sharp threads, bending and twisting every limp possible until you reached the target. "I'm M/n what about you? I like to learn the names of my targets!" You grinned a little at him despite feeling and smelling the danger coming from him.

"Just call me Sentinel, it's not as if we'll grow close." You hummed, out of nowhere a spear manifested and tried to stab Sentinel but to no avail. The male merely jumped away like a skillful kangaroo. Gaku looked around for a way to walk around the threat but Sentinel dominated this place.

Should he just smash the buildings into pieces?

While he was busy with taking his sweet time you had your time with fighting Sentinel. "Don't you have an ace up your sleeve?" You asked after stabbing his left arm and pulling your spear out again.

Sentinel looked at his wound first before finally taking his right hand out of his pocket. Before you could ever wonder what was going on you felt a sharp sensation at your throat.

"Huh?" Looking down you saw a red waterfall spurting out of your neck. It seemed as if those threads manifested out of nowhere. "Bastard." Were your last words before collapsing onto the floor.

Oddly it didn't hurt but you couldn't feel anything in general — just a load of exhaustion. Suddenly Gaku dropped out of the sky and missed Sentinel by a hair strand. The male retreated as if his mission was finished.

Gaku made sure that the guy truly left before resuming his attention to you — he was concerned and panicking. The usually composed Gaku was desperately trying not to lose his face in front of his dying friend.

"Hey are you ok—" You gave an answer by throwing up a good amount of blood. "Guess Gaku." You didn't have the energy to give any long answers and the gray blue-haired male tried to stop the bleeding but the cut was too big.

"You can't leave me." At this point Gaku didn't know if it was a command or plea. But he knew better than anyone that the weaks were left to die, while the stronger continued to strive.

"I'm tired of this assassin's life... Just let me sleep okay?" Your vision blurred and the color started to leave your body — the once (e/c) eyes were now starting to turn into a shade of gray, Gaku didn't like that color one bit.

"Don't fall asleep — you always sleep." He tried to reason in a desperate attempt. "Yeah and this time I can sleep without any worries." It was true, this time you didn't have to fear being attacked by random low ranked assassins or face someone stronger than you.

"Gaku remember our promise?" Your voice sounded so empty it scared him. "Stop talking."

"I don't want to die with regrets."

"You're not dying." He held your hand, the warmth gradually decreasing. "Oh stop and listen to me." You told him to bow down and whispered something into his ear. He only obliged because he thought you knew of a way to escape.

But after that sentence you left him. You departed from the world with a final message to Gaku who was left behind.

Did you leave the world without regrets?

Because Gaku couldn't now. It was as if he inherited your regrets. Suddenly the rain started pouring as a mockery to celebrate the passing of a bird with broken wings. Gaku picked your cold body up and carried you wherever it took him.

He covered your face with his jacket because of the pain he feels. He may not have any physical wounds but you inflicted other types of wounds on him.

The rain really reminded him of the day you two met. He remembers how vividly your voice told him about a little theory. He remembers how you always told him silly little things. He remembers everything about you.

But now he has to remember you for longer than he knew you.

'Gaku, do you know that your brain lives for 7 more minutes after you die? Apparently it replays your favorite memories.' He glanced at you and only one thought crossed his messed up mind.

Are you thinking of me right now?

Gaku wanted to watch those memories with you, like a cinema movie only made for you two but he had no right to reserve the place beside you.
