EVERYTHING WAS RINGING AND GAKU was shaking me, why was he shaking me? Did something happen? Suddenly I saw Kumanomi looking just as panicked.

"M/N!" I finally came back to my senses, Gaku let out a sigh of relief and the other orphanage members entered my view. "What happened?" I asked confused and they all looked at eachother, worriedly.

Kumanomi sent everyone away except Gaku. I was confused about what was going on. "Did the training already start?" She shook her head.

"M/n, the orphanage is no more." Gaku explained calmly and checked my face for any sight of discomfort or something similar.

"What?" Kumanomi looked conflicted and went somewhere else instead of dealing with the mess.

My mind was blurred and an unfinished puzzle, Gaku was the one putting them back together. "Kei came and pulled us out of the misery."

"So we're dead?"

"M/n no-" Gaku sighed and explained everything from the beginning to the end, there wasn't much about it. Apparently this was not the first time I forgot so much, but it always set off an alarm in Gaku. He hugged me surprisingly.

Just like back in the orphanage but this time I didn't have to tell him. He pulled me back onto my feets - like always. Gaku always felt like the more responsible person between us, it made me feel bitter.

I always walked behind him, he wasn't much taller than me but sometimes it felt like he was the bigger person.

It was currently night and Gaku pulled me outside and sat down on the grass and offered me the place beside him. "I remember you always talking about the stars at the orphanage."

"You remember that?"

"Why wouldn't I?" It seemed as if it was understandable for Gaku to remember every little detail about you. That made me fall even harder perhaps. I don't remember the time before the orphanage but my body did.

The same body that kept longing for Gaku, if someone asked me if I wanted someone like him I'd say no. I don't want someone like him.

I wanted him.

I placed my body down beside Gaku finally and didn't exactly know what to talk about but the silence was also enjoyable.

"What would you have done if you could have lived a normal life?" Gaku suddenly spoke up. "Define normal life, I got used to the disgusting environment."

"Like having loving parents, going to school and all the other stuff." I couldn't really imagine myself with such stuff - mostly because I'm sure that I would have never met Gaku.

"I think I wouldn't be happy."

"Why?" Perhaps Gaku thought that I'd be happy no matter where or what I am. It slightly frustrated me that I couldn't read him.

"Otherwise I couldn't have met Uzuki, Kumanomi, you and the rest." I smiled at him and Gaku looked back at me, no matter how often I saw him - he always looked beautiful.

Gaku made a slight oh sound as if he was a little stunned before returning his gaze at the stars.

"What about you?"

"Same." Gaku didn't talk much. His way of talking was more actions when he was around me. I saw how he treats other people.

A reckless troublemaker who always leaves a mess and I'm the one cleaning up after him, I grew to be his shadow and his alone. A part of me didn't mind but the other one was telling me to detach from Gaku.

Whenever Gaku was around me he seemed to be more at peace and calm, he can be such a headache at a time but also cure them. The way he worked was an unexplained secret to me that I wished to dig up.

"Gaku can you promise me something?"

"What do you need my promise for?"

"To make sure of something." I stretched out my little finger, he looked confused at it because he never held a proper promise before.

"What is your promise?" He copied my movement despite not knowing what it meant. "Promise that you'll hear me out when I die."

"You'll never die." Gaku had a conflicted look on his face but I knew how assassin life worked and so did Uzuki. He took me in despite knowing how frail I was in reality.

"If you don't keep your promise, I'll cut off your finger." I joked.

"If that is what you want." Gaku took the joke too seriously and I had to explain to him that it was merely a phrase you say when someone breaks their promise.

Seriously he could be so mature but also immature at a time.

"You promise alright?"

"I promise."
