"GAKU DO YOU BELIEVE IN FAIRY TALES?" It was rather an abrupt question for me that caught Gaku off guard.

"What do you mean?"

"Do you believe in happy endings?" Gaku was getting ready for another hunt. This time Uzuki asked us for another small favor.

"If you believe in it."

"What is that for a boring answer?" I deadpanned, did Gaku have no sense of free will or something?

He didn't add anything further and just told me to hurry up, I was a little hesitant because I knew that there was the possibility that I wouldn't return.

I remember how Uzuki was confused on why I would want to accompany Gaku on this nerve-wracking mission.

────

"M/n you could die—"

"I know." I couldn't tell what I was thinking, risking my life? Purposely dying?

"I can't send you there." Uzuki argued and told me to go out and wait for other orders that didn't involve risking my life. I wasn't necessarily the weakest out of the organization but I also wasn't the strongest.

There is no way I could continue my path with Uzuki, Gaku and Kumanomi. Everyone would walk ahead with such a bright future and I'd struggle to even walk on the same straight path.

"Uzuki, do you think I didn't calculate all the risks?"

"But there are other ways, you don't need to die." But no matter how much he said, it wouldn't get through your thick skull.

"What about Gaku!?" Uzuki finally raised his voice and he made a valid point, the only reason why I was certain on going on this suicide mission was because I didn't find a particular reason that tied me down — I felt bad but I didn't feel like Gaku ever gave me a reason to stay.

"Is there any way I can talk you out of this?" It was mere desperation now, on the outside Uzuki was your usual composed villain but if there was someone in this world who knew Uzuki then it would be his closest associates.

"I don't think so." I clicked my tongue and got ready to leave for my demise. There was nobody in my path stopping anymore, it felt like a heavy burden had been taken off my shoulders. Maybe I would be lucky enough and it'll only end with a serious injury that will force me into retirement.

This was my way of saying that I was done and tired of my current life.

────

"Gakuuu." I whined like a little child, we were currently on our way to the target and I was reading through the available information. Gaku seemed not bothered because he knew that the guy was weaker than him but I couldn't say the same for me. "What?"

"Is there something particular you want to do after this is over?" It wasn't like you could fulfill it anyway.

"Can I tell you something then?"

"Why not now?"

"Because I don't feel like it." But if you don't tell me now I may never find out. "Alright if you say so, but don't regret it."

"Why should I regret it? You're acting as if you're dying soon." I wanted to say that he jinxed it for fun but I don't think it would be so funny for Gaku. "Just listen to your best friend for once." Gaku hummed, "Whatever you say."

I swear I would have written more if I wasn't in school
