GAKU BARELY MANAGED TO DRAG himself back to their hideout. His footsteps were heavy and filled with regrets. Kumanomi was the first one to discover him and your dead body.

"Is that..?" She probably didn't want to accept the fact that another of her childhood friends met their end during a mission. She lost many comrades and friends but amongst them all there were some where she thought it was better to stop this whole nonsense.

You were one of them.

Fighting and killing never suited you. Kumanomi often tried to convince you to stop but you always told her not to overreact.

She sighed in frustration but she was already used to this, one person more or less wouldn't make much of a difference. "I warned him." Was the only thing that Kumanomi had to add before leaving Gaku alone again.

The hideous was relatively empty today and it didn't take long for Gaku to find Uzuki sitting on a bunch of empty crates. "You're back?" He turned around and stopped for a second.

"I see." He regained his composure and stared at Gaku. "What?" He didn't exactly understand what was going on and how Uzuki managed to stay so calm.

"We already expected this much." He explained to Gaku but it only made him even more confused. "M/n and I knew that he'd die."

"Then why didn't you stop him?" Gaku wanted to scream but he couldn't bring himself to raise his voice in this situation and especially not against your best friend. "If there is anyone in this world who knows M/n's limits then it was himself."

What Uzuki meant by that was that you willingly choose to embrace death. "Why?" Gaku couldn't understand your selfish motives. "I don't know, shouldn't you know the best?" Gaku wanted to argue but he couldn't. Uzuki was right, Gaku knew why you chose this.

"Say your final goodbyes, we don't want a rotting body." Gaku looked down at you one more time before wandering outside, there was no way that you'd receive a proper burial because of your occupation so Gaku had to take matters into his own hands.

He dug a hole deep enough to carefully lay your body inside. After finally making sure that nobody will disturb your eternal rest. There were many things that flew into his mind.

He thought that the promise you made back then was merely a silly memory but who would have thought that you thought of him like that.

────

"Gaku keep your promise." Was that the only thing you wanted at that moment? "Stop talking." Gaku felt overwhelmed with worries and concerns.

He tried to argue but there was no use. "Just stop and listen to me." He obliged thinking that you'd stop talking. He bent down onto your level with his ear and listened to your whisper.

"I love you." Gaku didn't trust his ears at that moment. If you loved him, why did you leave him already? Will you survive?

────

Right now it still felt like those whispers lingered on his ears, the sweet voice was no more.

The same person he ever desired was now laying below him, waiting to turn into ashes and become fertilizer for the flowers that will grow from his body. So beautiful yet so devastating.

The people were right when they said that your first love is the most beautiful.

In Gakus case his first love will forever be the most beautiful.

No way in hell would there be someone who could compare to you and if they tried he'd simply kill them. He was sure that he'd meet you again — it didn't matter to him if it was in his dream, after his death, in another universe or anything else. If he sets his mind on something he would fulfill it.

What could you have possibly thought of? The brain plays all of your favorite memories in 7 minutes? If you asked Gaku if that would be enough to show all of his favorite memories he'd say no.

Every memory he spent with you was labeled as his favorite. The memories before that were all black and white.

You were the colors that he needed for his blank canva but now that he has run out of colors what will he do? Discard the canva and start a new one?

No way he will treasure the one picture you two drew together more than ever.

But maybe it was time to put the paintbrush down and look for something else.

He stood in front of your supposed grave and thought about everything you could be thinking right now.

At some point I hated my own writing lallal anyways thanks for reading till the end !! Maybe I'll add more chapters with gakus POV
