❝ you were a stranger in my phonebook i was actin' like i knew 'cause i had nothin' to lose ❞"HOW CAN YOU EAT MINT CHOCOLATE?" sunghoon questioned, plainly disgusted that his best friend was eating it with joy.
yeorin chuckled and purposefully licked it with a pleased expression on her face, while sunghoon fake gagged and turned away, but a smile came across his lips.
"it's good," she stated, laughing.
sunghoon shook his head, disappointed, and looked forward as they strolled into the late night.
yeorin didn't have the energy to go back and enjoy her time after the pool group of people, so she went off with sunghoon instead of her friends. not that she complains; she has almost forgotten about jaeyun. she assumed she'd be moving too quickly with him, friendship and all. how could she be so dumb to invite him over? she hardly knows him, and she knows it herself. she doesn't just simply trust someone she barely knew.
sunghoon recommended that when the sun had set and darkness had taken over, the weather began to cool in the middle of summer, to stroll around neighborhoods and she didn't mind; she enjoys cold weather, especially when she walks with him. they preferred to walk around a little park that most people had abandoned, behind buildings, as they went on the big sidewalk where cyclists and cars passed.
sunghoon and yeorin walked near each other, remaining silent. opening talks here and there.
"sunghoon,"
yeorin had no intention of speaking, but for some reason, a question remained in her head the entire time she walked alongside him.
sunghoon hummed in query, turning his head to her for an answer.
"do you think jake is a good guy?" she questioned, catching him off guard.
he hummed in thought.
sunghoon thought jake was the one guy she seemed too comfortable with, and she appeared joyful around him. considering how touchy she is with him and how she avoids physical contact.
sunghoon hummed again.
"i do. why?"
yeorin simply shrugged in response, while sunghoon maintained his focus on her as her head turned forward.
"i don't know. i think i'm just growing closer to a stranger."
"obviously, he won't stay a stranger forever. we were strangers, too," he continued, pointing it out while he licked his ice cream.
"true," she replied. sunghoon chuckled in agreement.
THE MOON DEPARTED AND THE SUN TOOK IT'S PLACE.
when the sun reached the top of the sky, a loud, ringing vibration erupted, forcing yeorin to lock her exhausted eyes even tighter shut as she twisted her head to stop the timer.
after turning and tossing, she fell asleep on her stomach, and just as she had found the ideal sleeping position, the alarm went off.
she huffed and squeezed her face into her pillow after ticking her phone.
but the timer went on instantly just when she relaxed and tried to fall asleep again.
yeorin sighed, placed her palms on the pillow and used her strength to get up.
yeorin sat in front of the counter, holding a big smile for clients while typing into the screen to accept their orders. she has remained in the same position since sunrise, as more people arrived than they had originally expected. it was still daybreak, and people arrived, but it didn't seem to stop, which yeorin was already exhausted.
she exhaled, smiling even wider while she delivered the coffee to one of the clients for the hundredth time as they said their goodbyes, and her grin faded when they departed just as she looked out the glass door to see if any customers were coming and sighed in relief when none did.
she went to sit in one of the chairs while pulling out her phone. she opened instagram and glanced at the delivered messages she'd left since yesterday.
it was from sim jaeyun and perhaps she realized she was exaggerating with the whole trustworthy issue and decided to go with the flow.
another chime made her look up reflexively, due to the sun was covering the towering figure, she squinted her eyes until he stepped out of the shadow, causing her to halt her motions.
"jake? what are you doing here?" she blurted out, anxious, while stuffing her phone into her apron pocket, straightened it out, and walked up to him, who appeared to be staring at her with widening eyes as she exhaled awkwardly.
"you said your apron was brown?" he asked rhetorically, looking down at her apron with amusement and chuckling.
she gazed downward at her apron, then behind her just from her side, and noticed one of her coworkers raising an arrogant brow.
yeorin looked down at the floor, sighed disappointedly, then looked up and walked to behind the counter, assuming he'd follow right after.
jaeyun stared down at the menu, stealing glimpses at the girl in front of him and her coworker before looking up.
yeorin grimaced at herself. why did she panic? he looked up, and she smiled so awkwardly at him.
"i want black coffee and tiramisu," he said, and yeorin nodded lightly before she looked at her coworker, who nodded and walked to the kitchen.
the sim boy stood in front of the counter while yeorin blew out awkward rhythmic air while tapping her fingernails on the counter and at times gazing at the tall figure in front of her.
"please, have a seat," she said, looking at one of the tables as jaeyun turned around briefly and smiled sweetly.
"thank you, but i'm mostly not here to order. are you free in a bit?" he bit his bottom lip, staring at her with a jittery smile. yeorin knew he'd find out where she works eventually, but she didn't expect it to happen so soon.
she arched a curiosity eyebrow at him while she waited for him to explain. hoping he doesn't talk about her behavior when she doesn't know it herself.
