THE TALL MALE STOOD OUTSIDE LEE YEORIN'S HOUSE, his fingers hovering over the doorbell as he waited. the night before, yeorin had asked him to pick her up from work at eight o'clock since she was working the night shift at the café. however, the entire day had passed without a single text from her. even after he had messaged her multiple times to confirm if she was ready, there was no response. he was concerned and so decided to head over to her house, hoping nothing had gone wrong.

while he stood there, worrying about what might have happened to yeorin, he suddenly heard the sound of keys jingling from behind the door.

his heart skipped a beat, hoping it was her. but when the door finally opened, it was not yeorin standing there. instead, it was her twin brother, lee heeseung.

"oh, jake!" heeseung exclaimed in surprise, his eyes widening as he recognized him. jaeyun's hopeful smile quickly faded into a slight frown.

"yeorin left for work this morning," heeseung explained, noticing jaeyun's expression (figuring he's there for her.)

"did she not tell you?" he added—clearly puzzled by jaeyun presence.

jaeyun's brow furrowed further, and heeseung could easily see the perplexity in his eyes.

"i guess she didn't mention it. don't worry, though. you can visit her at the café. she's probably just too busy to text back or something." heeseung pulled a small, tight lipped smile.

jaeyun let out a light chuckle, although his concern didn't entirely dissipate.

"thanks," he replied, nodding slightly before heeseung closed the door.

while he walked back to his father's car, jaeyun felt a worried frown form on his forehead. he absentmindedly played with the ends of his hair as he started the car and decided to drive to yeorin's café, hoping to find her there.

just when jaeyun arrived at the coffee house, he saw yeorin through the pane of glass. she was wearing her typical pink apron while smiled cheerfully when she waved goodbye to a young girl who was about to leave.

jaeyun's lips curved into a faint smile after he watched her.

as the young girl left, yeorin noticed jaeyun standing in the parking lot, looking at her. she pulled a happy smile in response, clearly glad to see him. however, just as he was about to approach her, one of the customers called her back. she turned her back to him to attend to the customer, and by the time she turned around again, jaeyun had already entered the café.
