STEPHEN CURRY
San Francisco, CA.One month of summer left before training camp starts. Now that all the interviews and post championship shenanigans are all over, I can finally have a real break. The airport will not be seeing me anytime soon, well besides when I go pick up my girl tomorrow. She's been in LA working on her album. She even let me hear one of the songs on the album, which rarely happens. I can't wait to have her back with me, though. I miss having her sing me to sleep.
"Steph, I really don't like drinking by myself." KD interrupted my thoughts as he refilled my cup.
"My bad, brother. I zoned out."
KD shakes his head. "Judging by the smile on your face, I'm guessing it has something to do with the missus."
"I just can't wait for her to get back. It's been almost 2 weeks." I sighed.
"You've been very serious about her. Is a proposal on the way?" KD asks, wiggling his eyebrows.
"Who's proposing?" Jordan asks he plops down on the couch next to me. He was outside by the pool with Tiana, Gia and Ayesha.
"Steph should propose to Kiana." KD answered. Jordan made a face.
"Don't even say it." I stopped him immediately. I already knew he was team 'Alani' and I didn't want to hear it.
"You know I'm right, though." Jordan retorts. I only rolled my eyes. I didn't want to see Alani or even talk about her. After what that argument, it's been tense between us. It's like we don't know how to act around each other anymore. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing. On the good side, I know I'm not putting myself in a position where I can cheat again. And we all know I can't resist her anyway. However, she's still my best friend and I don't want our relationship to be like this forever.
"Wait, you talking about Alani?" KD asked.
"Yeah, she's the one who's supposed to be getting the proposal. It's 20 years late, actually." Jordan smirked.
"Jordan, don't start that. You know I can't be with Alani."
"Because you're both stubborn as fuck." He says.
"Here we go." KD chuckled.
"Nah, I wanted to be with her 2 years ago and she told me she needed to be alone. I respected that and moved on with my life. You can't expect me to drop Kiana now because Alani is finally ready."
"Nobody is saying you should drop Keeks. I'm just saying you should think about what you have with Alani. The both of you have told me yourselves how rare and special your love is. I don't want you live with regret, you know?" Jordan explains. I understand that he's coming from a place of love but it's really hard to have a past relationship thrown in your face all the time, especially if you've moved on.
Also, I'm tired of having to explain why Alani and I can't be together. For once I'm happy with the woman I'm with. My mom had no influence over her. I don't have a complicated past with her. No drama. Just good vibes.
"Look, Jordan. I know your heart is in the right place but honestly, I don't want to be with Alani. It's too complicated. I'm happy with Kiana. She makes me happy and she has no extra baggage." I replied honestly.
"So you're with her because it's easier?" Jordan raised an eyebrow. "Damn, man. What happened to real love?"
"J, that's not what I mean at all."
Here he goes with that Gemini psychic evaluation shit.Jordan shakes his head. "If you say so, bro. Just don't settle, that's all Ima say."
"Alright, let's just change the subject." KD chimed in. "What's going on with you and Dray? Y'all still ain't hash shit out?"
