Chapter 11: Aithnayn

I stood up and held her shoulders.

"Mira." Her 'Cutie Boss' called her and she confidently strutted towards him.

The executive secretary, right. But why does he call her Mira? Where is the formality?

My eye twitched as she stood in front of her boss and he walked behind Mira, and looked over her shoulder. She's showing him something on her tablet.

Mira talks while the boy nods. I noticed his head was tilted towards her cheeks, like he was waiting for a bit of movement from her as his lips waited to touch her cheek. Waiting for a kiss.

Motherfucker. I wanna smack him. I want to obliterate him. I want to use my sword on him. I want to feed my sword with his bloo--

I am Xavier's alter ego. I am not that refined. I am uncontrollable. I am--

"Boss."

Eclipse materialized beside me. Her voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I looked at her. "What?"

"This is not the right place to let go."

I shook my head, hoping to clear my mind of these wrong ideas.

"I know."

She bumped my shoulder. "You're not like that a few months ago."

"Right, I am not."

"But a few months ago you had someone tail a civilian," Ec chuckled as she stood up straight, her hands together behind her. Like a soldier. "I was flabbergasted when you have that thing in your home."

"Wha--"

"Aithnayn," she looked straight as she spoke. "Xavier, me and you have been together since we are kids. I know you and I know him." She hinted.

I nodded. "I-- I know. But I was built differently than him, Eclipse. I am his dark, he is my light."

We are. And she is right.

"I know how badly he wanted to pat your head and spoil you because you are everything he wished for even before you came to us." She spoke quietly never taking her eyes off of Mira and her boss.

"That's not true."

"Believe me, Aithnayn. I know," i felt her pat my head. "I wanted to run away from the group so badly and take you both away from all the chaos of the kingdom." Her voice is low. "But your responsibilities and his responsibilities are just too important to ignore."

"What, with me being the sicario of the kingdom and him the good and responsible prince?" I whispered, looking down on the floor.

"You are a prince too. You're on par with him."

"Yeah. A tyrant prince. I don't want that."

"You see, they-- no. You paint yourself the bad guy but clearly you are not."

"Responsibilities.. Eclipse."

She shrugged. "I devoted myself to you and Xavier, and I am being responsible for my decision. Don't stop me from looking after you two," a sigh. "Your pasts made you guys, but that doesn't mean you can't be the person you wanted to be." And she nodded in front of us. "Look alive." She pointed at Mira and her boss.

I walked slowly and pulled Mira away from the guy. "You can sit with us on our table, sir." I side-hugged Mira and pulled her away from the guy. "You guys can discuss your business while eating."

"Right." Mira hugged me and I smiled while i gave her boss a side eye. He should be thankful, I am trying to be a good person for Mira.

We casually walked back to our table, I pulled a seat for Mira, and Eclipse helped herself out with a seat beside Mira.
