Isla Velarde #1: Raging Waves

Isang araw ang makalipas nang makabalik sina Shiruo at Hanna sa isla. Panay pa ang bilin ni Fatima na huwag bigyan ng stress si Hanna dahil masama ito sa buntis. Being as attentive as he is, Shiruo took all of her advice and even bought vitamins for Hanna’s pregnancy.

Unang tapak ni Hanna sa isla ay manghang-mangha na siya. She have seen many beautiful places but Isla Velarde seems to be a paradise.

The shore had a white sand and the waves are as calm as the bluish scenery of the skies.

“Ang ganda pala rito sa isla ninyo,” sambit ni Hanna.

Shiruo remembers that it’s Hanna’s first time to set foot on the island. Noong magkasintahan pa sila ay balak niyang dalhin doon si Hanna ngunit hindi siya nagkaroon ng pagkakataon.

Bukod sa madalas doon ang pinsan niyang si Lennon ay umuuwi ng Santa Rosa si Hanna tuwing bakasyon, and he would be at their company for his training.

“You can have a walk any time you want but make sure to do your job properly before that,” Shiruo said.

Tumango-tango si Hanna. As much as she wants to stroll around the island, she needs to behave herself. The only salvation she’s holding is no one but Shiruo.

Kung namamangha si Hanna sa buong isla ay ganoon din ang naramdaman niya nang makita ang mansion ng mga Velarde.

It was made to be a castle, fitting for the likes of the late lady of Velarde, Marianne Velarde, their grandmother.

Hanna seems to be living in a world of fantasy seeing the mansion like castle. Sa naiisip niya pa ay bagay na bagay si Shiruo na tumira doon dahil para siyang karakter na hinugot pa sa libro.

The hallways made no different as she follows him. Each post had a huge portrait of the members of the family.

Halos dumugo ang ilong ni Hanna dahil ni wala man lang siyang maipintas sa kanilang mga hitsura. If they are in a monarch, she would have thought that the Velardes rule an empire.

Of course, the most handsome man she saw is Shiruo. That is in her eyes but it’s quite true that among the Velardes, Shiruo caught her attention. She bet other girls are also drooling over him.

“This is the guest room, you’ll be staying here. My grandparents didn’t bother making a quarter for the maids since once a week, our trusted caretaker goes here. Pero nasa bakasyon sila kaya hindi muna sila makakapunta rito,” he said.

The part where the caretaker is on vacation was a lie. Gusto lang ni Shiruo na walang sino man ang makaaalam na kasama niya si Hanna. He also trusts Reign and Fatima won’t say a thing about him living with his ex-girlfriend.

“Ang ganda! Salamat sa pagpapatira mo sa akin dito. Huwag kang mag-alala, pagbubutihin ko ang trabaho ko rito.”

He nodded then entered the room. May mga paper bags sa kama at pinakita iyon sa kaniya.

“Since you don’t have anything besides your clothes when I found you on the shore, I bought you some dresses that would fit you. Huwag mo nang alalahanin pa kung paano mo ako babayaran, libre ko na ito sa iyo.”

Hanna got teary eyed. Since she went home to Santa Rosa bearing no memories, no one had ever been so nice to her. Kahit alam niyang purong awa lang ang nararamdaman ni Shiruo ay nagpapasalamat pa rin siya at naisipan nitong bilhan siya ng mga damit.

Kung hindi pa siya pinahiraman ng damit ni Fatima ay wala siyang maisusuot. All of her belongings got washed in the storm and probably on the bottom of the sea now.
