<Fitz's POV>

Today is the first day that I'm getting my first match list. Boy, I really hope Sophie is on my list. Ever since she convinced the matchmakers that she was legible to have a match packet and stuff, my hopes went up. Apparently, Councillor Oralie let Sophie use her name in her match profile, so now she is matchable, but either way, Sophie still doesn't want to follow the rules of match making and everything. And Sophie is really rebellious in terms of matchmaking. Sophie also convinced a lot of people and the council to unban Pyrokinesis and let the unmatchables and Pyrokinetics be matchable.

As I hurry downstairs, I see gnomes rushing in and out of the house and bringing decorations back and forth from the reception. I thought the Winnowing gala was in one week! Wait.. that one week was 2 days ago.. so it's in five days. Darn it, I completely forgot about it.

I just stand there with my mouth open for a few seconds when my mom rushes past me and says

"Fitz! We have to get going already! Change quickly, the matchmakers don't like to be kept waiting!" she hustles and bustles.

"What? Oh, right.. okay, mom!" I dash back upstairs and quickly change into something presentable.

-at the matchmakers -

I nervously twist my hands together as they sweat profusely. I'm already almost 17, and my match lists are slightly delayed. I've been sitting there next to my mom and dad for almost twenty minutes now, but I still haven't been called in yet.

After five more minutes of waiting, I finally got called into office number seven.

"Fitzroy Vacker, room number seven please," a lady with red hair approaches me and points me in the direction of the room.

I gulp and glance back at my parents, who wish me luck, even though there's not really any luck concerned with this matter.

I walk through the doors and see two smartly dressed young men in white coats sitting down with a sealed envelope. One man has midnight blue eyes, ginger hair, and skin so pale. It seems white. The other man has sapphire blue eyes, warm brown skin, and a shock of pink hair.

The pink haired man holds out his hand to me and says, "I'm Xanthous Godric, pleased to meet you, Fitzroy,"

I shake his hand, saying, "Please, just call me Fitz,"

The other man, with the pale skin, hands me his hand and says, "My name is Anfalen Iarsys, nice to meet you,"

His grip is quite firm.

"Take a seat, Fitz," Anfalen gestures to an armchair in the corner.

"Yes, we need to discuss a little something with you before you get your top tier list," Xanthous informs me, frowning slightly.

I feel the perspiration on my face increases a considerable amount as I sit down.

"Fitz, you seem to be describing someone in particular very carefully and in detailed description in your match packet," Anfalen says curiously.

"We tried to find someone that matches your criteria but did not succeed due to one small error:" Xanthous trails off, looking at Anfalen.

"Brown eyes," Anfalen finishes.

I start to fidget, itching to get out, "Yes, brown eyes..?"

"Question 308:," Xanthous reads, "What are your preferable physical features to your future partner?"

"You put: Brown eyes, long blond hair, slim and secretive," Anfalen reads my answer.

"Do you have a problem with that?" I ask as politely as possible.

"Fitz, there are only two possibilities to who that might be. One - a human." Xanthous says.

"And two- the notorious and previously unmatchable Sophie Foster," Anfalen delicately wrinkles his nose in distaste.

"Which, may we ask, is it?" Xanthous asks, suddenly developing a sweet and sunny tone of voice.

"Sophie Foster, of course! Who couldn't love her!" I blurt out, angry at this interrogation.

The two annoying matchmakers exchange a heavy glance, and Anfalen says in a fake-happy voice, "Well, alright, you'll be glad with your results then,"

Xanthous hands me the envelope.

The two say in unison, "Looking forward to see you next time Fitzroy,"

I roll my eyes and dash out of the room, shivers tingling up and down my spine.

***

Back at home, I eagerly tear open the envelope.
