May 3rd, 1924
1 day to the Paris OlympicsFlorence entered the building and was greeted by a young fellow named Louis. He showed her upstairs to the owner, Gustav Lausenhammer. The name suited him well, being he made clothing for the people of France.
"Hello there, ma'am. Name's Gustav." he spoke in French.
"I'm Florence. I'm from the United States." Florence said.
"Ah, so you speak English fluently as well?"
"Yes, do you?"
"Why, certainly. I'm surprised to see you know French." he spoke in English now.
"The great truth is that I'm shocked to see you know English."
"Indeed, I do! I read it a lot when I was younger to help pass time. I guess it really was worth the trouble."
"I learned French because I wanted to come here. A place like New York City is much to busy for me. I'd rather live in the countryside like I used to."
"Have you just moved here?"
"I arrived a couple days ago."
"Have you secured a living area any?"
Florence sighed. "No, unfortunately. The businessman I saw back in New York lied to me about it."
"Ah, I see." Gustav thought for a second, then remembered his home.
"Florence, I live in the countryside in Switzerland. I'm here for work for a couple years, but I get to stay in a good apartment. Would you like me to show you once I'm done?"
"Why, of course! Also, I forgot to say, I'm looking for a job to help pay and get an apartment here on my own. I believe your company is the best choice."
"Alright then, I guess I'm not very busy, so we can do the job interview right now!"
A couple hours later, the interview ended, and Florence was hired.
By the time they were finished, it was time for the shop to close."I guess we'd better get going." Gustav said.
"We shall."
They walked to Gustav's car and headed to his apartment. On the way, Florence asked if he would see the Olympics. She had a ticket for herself.
"Every shop that isn't food in Paris will be closed tomorrow! Of course I'm attending!" he said, holding up a ticket before making a turn to his apartment.
"It's going to be very exciting." Florence said.
"Yes, it will be. Now let's head home!"
They got out of the car and unpacked Florence's things before getting ready for bed. There was a guest room for Florence and it looked much more cozy for her than her old apartment in New York.
"I like this life. Not too good, not too bad." she said as she drifted off to sleep.
