You get out of your tent in the morning as you usually do and take a moment to bask in the early sun, a gentle breeze cools you from the previous warm night, but not your whole body is pleased with this fresh air. Your wrists are not used to being exposed to the open anymore, you hold onto one of your wrists only to flinch at the subtle pain, the wounds are still in the process of healing, it is a bittersweet time; you are over the moon that the chain that caused you pain is now gone, but now deep scars have replaced to cold metal, forcing you to remember the weight of those hard times. with every glance and with every gust of cold wind.
Pushing down the physical and mental pain you begin your early day by first going to the graves, by the looks of it, someone already beat you to it as you see fresh flowers have already been placed, you mentally thank the kind soul who went out of their way to pay respects to all the graves.
You quietly send out a prayer to them, place your own flowers on top of the graves and lastly brush away any leaves that have drifted on them.
As you begin to make your way to the farm only to spot the one that could be the possible culprit for putting flowers on the graves.
"Good morning, Narinder" You greet, hearing your sudden voice behind him makes Narinder flitch, although you can not see his face his tail gives him away as it puffs up.
"You damn little lamb! Are you trying to kill me?!" He turns a little bit towards you to tell you off, you notice he is fiddling with something in his paws, you try to get a better look at it only for Narinder to hide it in his robes. "And why must you be so nosey?!"
"I'm sorry, honestly, it's just rare to see someone awake this early in the morning" You lift a paw up in surrender to show Narinder you do not mean any ill intent, you can see his shoulders lowering as you do so.
His three eyes turn away from you with a bashful look creeping onto his face.
"Just leave me alone, little lamb, I'm busy", you see Narinder grab onto his own injured wrist, and not wanting to pester him about the flowers on the graves you leave him be to continue whatever is keeping him so busy.
Things continue as normal, you begin to harvest a few things from the farm but look over to Narinder from time to time, as you do you catch him looking over to you but as soon as you make eye contact, he would look away, you figured it was just his curiosity on what you were doing.
Seeing as you still have some time left before you need to make the Followers meal you choose to enter the healing bay to make another batch of ointment, with all the ingredients done processing you make your way to Narinder once more.
"Narinder?"
"What do you want now, you damn little lamb?" He quickly put what he is working on back in his robes when you called out to him.
You sit next to Narinder and place the ointment on your lap to not drop it.
"I wanted to put some more of this cream on your wrists to help it heal" You use your fingers to scope some out and with your other paw you show it to Narinder so he can place his paw in yours, and he did with no hesitation. Just before you start to apply the ointment you give a warning.
"Remember, it stings" he gives you a low grunt to show you that he listened.
You carefully placed some of the ointment on his wrists, he flinched and took a sharp inhale, you softly rubbed his knuckles with your thumb to ease the pain.
"Thank you...for doing this...(Y/N)" Hearing your name come out of his mouth made your heart skip a beat and you are certain that your face turned a shade of red.
"I-It's no problem, honestly, please, give me your other paw!" You try to sound calm, but even though you try, you fail either way, Narinder gave you his other paw, and you did the same with his paw.
"There, all done!" As you start to get up, Narinder pulls you back down next to him, he takes the left-over ointment bowl from your paws.
He held onto your paw to put some ointment on your wrist like he did last time but he stopped.
"You know how it feels" You understand that that was his way of giving you the warning, as he applies it to your wrist, you also flinch from the slight sting but the pain fades as Narinder also gently rubs your knuckles with his thumb, you can feel your face grow more red by the second, then he moves to your second paw.
"You know you don't have to do this" You faced the grass in hopes you would hide your flushed face.
"I wanted to...there, done" You wait for Narinder to let go of your paw, but he does not, and although you enjoy the feeling of his paw in yours, you still need to cook for the cult.
"I need to start going, Narinder" he instantly released your paw.
"You don't need to announce that you need to go, just leave!" You get up to go again but not without giving one last small smile to Narinder, he looks away flattening his ears to his head.
As soon as you start to cook, the Followers start to get up, you had to explain that you were busy and that was the reason the food was not done yet, they accepted the answer and watched you making their meal, some were quiet interested and took mental notes for when they have the confidence to try out the kitchen.
Not long after the cult now has full bellies and got on with their duties. You see Lambert making his way to the temple.
"Lambert, I need to talk to you!" You catch up to him as he starts to open the door.
"Of course, what is it?"
"Is it alright if I skip today's sermon? I just need a break from all the Followers"
Lambert thought about it for a second then he let out a sigh.
"Fine, you do interact with them a lot. Enjoy your little break" Before he enters the temple, Lambert ruffles your wool.
"Lambert!" You try to get your paws on him, but you are too slow, he is already in the temple.
You watch as the Followers excitedly make their way into the temple, your eyes wander to Narinder who stayed behind this time, your curiosity got the best of you.
"Narinder, I need to ask, what are you working on?". He did not reply, only gesturing to you to sit next to him, you see him holding two things in his paws, but you force your eyes to not peek.
"I see you always touching your wrists, I know it's not out of pain but because you feel as though something is missing" You stay quiet, you cannot believe you are that easy to read to him, "I find myself doing the same thing".
With no warning he shoves something into your paws, you take a closer look at it, it looks like the cuffs you had, and it is, but it's now smooth with engravings etched in and the hole that your paw goes in is now bigger, you look at Narinder waiting for an explanation, that is when you see him slipping on a matching cuff turned bracelet on the wrist that has the most injuries.
"If we use these then we can stop our little habits and we heal faster".
You take a closer look at the bracelet and admire the handy work; you slip the bracelet on, and it fits perfectly.
"Thank you" you say just above a whisper.
You place your head on Narinder's shoulder as you continue to marvel at the thoughtful gift, Narinder is still at first but leans his head atop yours, amongst the quiet you hear a faint purring sound come from him.
