Omniscient POV

Barbican Avenue, St. Andrew
Monday, August 5th

Kemar wiped the sweat from his forehead as he worked on the concrete foundation of his new home. Octavia sat to the side, watching him as his toned muscles contracted and relaxed while he carried and mixed the buckets of cement and laid the tiled so professionally.

The sun shone down on his shirtless figure as sweat dripped from his forehead. He took a moment, stepping away to grab a bottle of water from the igloo before he took a swig, his eyes fixed on Octavia, who was watching him with a mixture of admiration and curiosity.

"A wahm?" He asked, grinning.

"Nothing," She responded with a smile. He hummed, setting the water down as he looked at the house.

It has been over a month and everything was looking good so far. He hired workmen to help him build his home and felt proud of himself. He has accomplished a lot so far and with professional inspection, he learned that he didn't have to break down the foundation his father started to build on because it was very sturdy.

Octavia sat beneath the shade of the mango tree, her eyes fixed on Kemar as he worked tirelessly on the back patio floor. His muscles flexed with each movement, his sweat-glistened skin a testament to the hard labor he'd endured all summer. The once-lanky young man she knew had transformed into a strong and capable individual, his physique now honed from months of heavy lifting.

As she watched, a mix of emotions swirled within her. Pride and admiration battled with the lingering ache of their past heartache. They had parted ways, but her love for him never truly faded. Now, witnessing his dedication and passion for his work, she felt her heart stir once more.

Kemar's focus on the tiles was unwavering, his hands moving with precision and care. The way he worked, with such love and attention to detail, reminded her of the way he used to care for her. The memories came flooding back. Laughter, late-night conversations, and the warmth of his embrace.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the patio, Kemar looked up and caught her gaze. A soft smile played on his lips, and for a moment, it felt like no time had passed at all. Octavia's heart skipped a beat, and she knew in that instant that her love for him remained strong. It has been growing the more time she spent with him.

"Yuh just a watch me suh. Yuh wah tell me sum'n?" He asked her.

"Mi nuh have nuth'n fi ask. Mi just a stare outta space," She lied, looking away briefly.

"Notice how yuh seh ask and me seh tell? Wahm? Weh yuh wah ask, Tavia?" He leaned against the house, using the towel hanging on the clothesline to wipe his face.

"Nothing, Kemar. Do weh yah do so we can leave because me tired and hungry," She told him.

"A desso yuh deh from morning eno. Weh yuh do, tired fi sidung?" He raised an eyebrow.

He walked over to her, taking a seat on the bench she was seated on. She turned to him, catching his stare, and a blush crept up her cheeks.

"Why yuh deh so close to me?" She asked him.

"A wah, me green?" He sniffed his armpits and she laughed.

"Mi nuh smell green," He confirmed.

"Mi never seh yuh green but yuh sweaty," She told him.
