The ground shook with each step it took and I could only wonder how it approached this cottage unnoticed. It's sheer size alongside how unintelligent it was, there were most definitely more people involved in this ambush.
I needed to hurry, not because Mary might be in danger but because the more I leave the colossal giant running amok the more damage he will inflict upon the surroundings. I had to eliminate it quickly and with my blood-covered blade, I called upon my spirit.
"Spirit King of Light! Please infuse my sword in the light! As bright as it can be!" I said aloud as I shook off the layer of blood while trying to make a suitable distance between myself and the colossus that continued its onslaught of attacks.
"Your wish is my command! As the Spirit King of Light, I call for thy weapon to shine as bright as the stars!" It shouted and in an instant, my sword began glowing brighter and brighter, to the point that I couldn't even bear opening my two eyes when it was within a meter of me.
I ran towards the creature before me, waving my sword of light, and with its eyes blinded, all it could see was the difference in light level, thus drawing its attention towards my blade. With one sole target set before it, the injured beast took no hesitation in its approaching and charged.
"AHH! WHAT KIND OF PLAN IS THIS! YOU'RE JUST MAKING YOURSELF ONE BIG TARGET, WHAT HAVE YOU GOTTEN ME ROPED IN!" The spirit said in response, regretting its choice to follow my word and infusing light into my blade without a thought.
"That won't be a problem! I know just what to do, I'm not going to stand back weak any longer!" I replied confidently and with everything I had right then and there, I bolted as fast as I could, trying to make enough distance between me and the blinded creature.
The creature's eyes blinded followed mindlessly to the light; its bleeding eyeballs were sensitive to the sight and with the brightest glint of light moving about before it. I lured it to follow me but with each huge and monstrous step it took, my feet left an inch off the ground.
I continued to run forth and before long, there I saw it, the shed lying towards the rear of the cottage. It was still there, standing in all its dusty glory and turning back to see if the giant ogre was still following me, I quickly ran beyond the shed, positioning myself perfectly behind it.
With the stage set, I gathered my innate strength and conjuring it forth, I shined holy magic alongside the spiritual magic, creating a light that converged to shine brighter than the sun's immaculate radiance upon the earth's green and blue surface.
Still, in pain, it continuously called out in an ear-splitting roar, rumbling my very eardrums and bringing them to the verge of popping. I wanted to keep my ears shut, blocking off the violent noise that echoed across the vast forests and into the distant fog.
But I pushed on, carrying the two beacons of light on both hands and when it finally sprinted towards me, it tripped on the shed and fell to the ground, crashing down clumsily and rendering it staggered for the time being.
The moment it came to fall, I repurposed my holy magic and infused it further into my blade, I leaped forth, swinging my blade back, and aimed it towards the wound I had already brought upon it. Slashing and dicing, I brought down an onslaught of precise strikes upon the beast.
With a final concise blow of a heavy plunge into the center of its iris, I killed the gargantuan foe and took one step back with my lungs fresh out of oxygen and my legs tired beyond belief.
It was dead for sure, its body motionless and blood continuously spilling out like a broken dam in a river. I held my blade tight and continued to raise my guard even as not a single presence stood within my field of vision or sense.
