Picture the loft, right? It's got that classic New York vibe, with massive windows letting in loads of light. The walls are covered in paintings and sketches-most of them are Sirius's, though a few are by mates he's met here and there. There's a piano in one corner, a battered old thing he found at a thrift store and couldn't resist, even though he only knows how to play "Chopsticks."
The furniture is a mix of mismatched finds, not because they care much about decor but because they just pick up what they like. There's an old leather sofa, a couple of beanbags, and a coffee table that's really just a stack of crates. Books and records are strewn everywhere, and there's an easel with a half-finished painting of a wolf. Classic Sirius, always starting something new.
Sirius stretches like a cat, yawning loudly, "Blimey, it's morning already. I swear I just closed me eyes." He rolls over and grins at Remus, who's already up and about, fussing with the coffee machine that makes more noise than a jet engine.
Remus looks up, a soft smile on his face, "Morning, Padfoot. Coffee's almost ready."
"Cheers, Moony," Sirius says, getting out of bed and padding over to the kitchen. He's wearing an old band t-shirt and pajama bottoms that are two sizes too big. He wraps his arms around Remus from behind, resting his chin on Remus's shoulder. "How'd you sleep?"
Remus leans back into the embrace, "Like a log. You?"
"Like a log that had too much whiskey," Sirius laughs. "But all good now, especially with you making that liquid gold."
They move around each other with the ease of long familiarity, bumping hips and stealing kisses. "Remember when we met? God, I was so lost in that Walmart. Couldn't find my arse with both hands."
Remus chuckles, "You were looking for beans, if I recall. Staring at the shelves like they were written in Klingon."
"Yeah, and then this angel-" Sirius plants a kiss on Remus's nose, "-comes up and asks if I need help. First week in the States and I was ready to call it quits."
"I'm glad you didn't," Remus replies, squeezing Sirius's hand. "That was the start of all this."
Sirius flops onto the sofa, toast in hand. "And then you introduced me to coffee. Bloody hell, what a revelation! We started hanging out, and before I knew it, we were dating. And then moved in together within three months. Talk about a whirlwind romance, eh?"
Remus sits beside him, resting his head on Sirius's shoulder. "You introduced me to James and Lily. They're brilliant. Like family."
"Yeah, they're alright," Sirius grins. "James thinks he's some sort of big-shot reporter, and Lily's a saint for putting up with him. But they've been here for us."
They sit in comfortable silence for a moment, just enjoying each other's presence. The loft may be a bit bare, but it's filled with love and laughter. Sirius suddenly leaps up, grabbing a brush and splashing some paint on the canvas.
"Fancy a walk in the park after breakfast, Moony?" he asks, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Sounds perfect," Remus replies, watching Sirius with an affectionate smile. "But first, let's finish this toast before you get paint on everything."
Sirius laughs, "No promises. You know me, always the artist at work."
And that's them, Sirius and Remus, two souls who found each other in the chaos of New York City. Their mornings are a mix of coffee, kisses, and the occasional splash of paint, but most importantly, they're filled with love.
...
The sun has climbed a bit higher, streaming through the tall windows and casting warm patches of light on the wooden floor. Sirius is sprawled on the sofa, now sketching something abstract, while Remus tidies up the kitchen.
