She used to build walls around her but then you came around and invaded her fortress with flowers and spoken promises. She used to guard her heart with proverbs and ancient poetries but then you brought her a pile of folk tales speaking of how love should be.

She used to defy romance and men as princes but then you left your castle to reproach her unbelief. She used to dance on her own with no one to hold her hands but then you offered yours and that was the beginning of her downfall.

Now, young man, you've got the hold but they weren't firm. Flowers withered away in time and your spoken promises turned into myths. Neither of these folk tales you told came true nor the love she came to believe become something worth her faith.

She was born to become the burning fire only to find herself frozen in the arms of a man she had thought would continue to fan her flame.
