"'Cause now its game on, ay, ay, ay
They're never gonna break us down"
For Holly, having the world know about her situation with George made it harder for her to stay away from him. She had no reason for the two of them to stay away from each other and the only reason they had was due to the fact both of them had jobs to complete.
She found herself feeling fond of George, especially now they had been FaceTiming nearly everyday. Holly was learning what being in love, as far she was aware, felt like. She was happy to talk to George and desperate to spend time with him; she didn't realise quite how quickly things had moved for the two of them.
"Holly, are you paying attention?"
"Mhm, loads of attention."
"Is that why you're staring out the window and not at me?" Mille Bright questioned in amusement.
"I'm trying not to focus on the fact I'm in a box in the middle of the sky," Holly admitted. "You know I don't like it at all."
"I know," Millie smiled. "Let's talk about something instead. Your parents and brothers are coming right?"
"Yeah...well, just my parents for the group stages. Lando is racing but he's on summer break in August. George too," Holly replied. "Cisca can't come to the group stages either and Flo has some kind of competition so it's just my parents."
"It's still nice that they're coming," Millie smiled.
The hum of the engines, once a source of anxiety, had become a rhythmic lullaby during the long flight from England to Australia. She hated flying with a passion, but exhaustion had finally taken over, allowing her to snatch a few hours of uneasy sleep. The travel time was nearly 36 hours so Holly never felt completely at peace.
Finally, the cabin lights brightened, signalling that they were approaching their destination. She glanced around at her teammates, some of whom were still dozing, while others were now wide awake. Holly forced a smile, trying to mask her discomfort. Her nerves had been on edge since they took off, and now, with the landing imminent, her stomach twisted with a mixture of relief and lingering fear.
After disembarking, the team was whisked through to their coach. Holly pressed her forehead against the cool window, watching the unfamiliar landscape flash by. She wasn't exactly looking forward to being in Australia but she did appreciate being able to see a new country.
As soon as they arrived where they were staying, Holly dragged her suitcase to her room, barely taking in the surroundings. The team had eaten together before heading up to their rooms so Holly was officially dead. She flopped onto the bed, feeling the jet lag begin to settle in. They would be training from early on so she knew it was important to get some sleep.
