They know me and Jack Daniels got a history"

Holly Norris had been a girl who spent most of her early years of life in the hospital, dancing between the emergency department to regular neurology appointments. She never let it get to her, apart from the times it kept her from playing her favourite sport until they found meds that worked.

Adam and Cisca Norris had been as worried back then as they were now. They were the ones who got little sleep while worrying about their daughter and the times spent trying to explain to her siblings how to deal with their sister whenever she had any sort of seizure.

The British footballer hadn't exactly planned to crash her head into someone else's nor did the Spanish player wish for harm to come to Holly in any sort of way.

"Holly, can you hear me?"

"Her eyes are closed, so obviously not."

"Not the time, Lando."

Machines beeping were the first sound Holly heard, followed by the voices of her dad and brother. She did not feel much, other than the IV in her arm when she went to move it but her body was reasonably heavy, influenced by how tired she felt.

"Lando, turn the lights off," Adam Norris' voice echoed.

It became a lot easier for Holly to back into the world with the lights off, feeling a small headache beginning to form as whatever meds she was on wore off. Truth be told, she didn't remember much, if anything, other than seeing a Spanish player try to score.

"Welcome back to the world of the living," said Lando softly, resting a hand on Holly's arm. "I thought you were a goner. If you pull that again, I'll have heart attack."

"What happened?" Holly asked hoarsely, turning her head towards her dad. "Why am I in the hospital?"

"You collided with another player in the head. Severe concussion and a fractured skull. You broke a few ribs on your fall too," Adam, her father, explained carefully. "You've got to stay here for a day or two and —"

"Did we lose?" Holly whispered.

"Don't worry about that—"

"So we did," Holly sunk into her bed. "How badly did we lose?"

"They put up a really good fight," Adam assured. "Mary Earps did a good job in goal. It was hard goal to save, about half an hour in I think. You...the team just couldn't get them back."
