Chapter Ten - 5,000 won

"Excuse me!" Daniel's mom shouted , getting Jace's attention from behind the counter.

"Yes? How can I help you?" Jace replied back , still in shock by the sudden call.

"Sorry but could I take those boxes?" Daniel's mom asked akwardly, hoping she could get the boxes.

I knew it was heartbreaking seeing this scene , but gosh this hurts.

"Umm usually someone else does but I guess it's okay." Jace replied back briefly as he continues his work.

"Ah this is a bit embarrasing but I cant let them pass. Dont tell Daniel ok? He'd be embarrased. Oh and...here..." She says holding out two 5,000 won bills for both of us.

I looked at it in shock , I didn't expect her to take out another one...

"Thanks for looking out for him. I hope both of you will be great friends to him. Please dont hit or bully Daniel. For me." She said smiling warmly at the both of us.

I stared back at her in shock , knowing this 5,000 won bills each was hard earned money for her.

I slowly felt tears welled up in my eyes but I decided to hold em back as I saw Daniel doing same , probably worse than me.

"Yes. Please don't worry." Daniel couldn't help but bit his lips as he tried his best to hold back his tears from falling down.

"Yeah.. i'll look out for him." I cursed internally at myself for letting my voice break..

"But I don't need the bill... I'm plenty off well without it.." I said politely rejecting her 5,000 won bill and slowly pushed it away.

The look on her face was shocked by my refusal but it slowly turned into a somewhat of a grateful expression towards me.

'I'm glad she didn't insist on giving me it..'

Daniel tried to do the same but Daniel's mom probably knew he was living with little Daniel and sharing rent.

After finishing our drinks , the both of us and Daniels mom , all went out together making sure she got to the bus stop safely.

"Are you sure you want to go without seeing Daniel?"

"Whew wouldnt want to wake him up. I just came to bring some food. Tell him I stopped by. Its his birthday soon so I'll be back."

"Okay travel safe." I saw Daniel slowly tearing up and gosh now I wanted to as well.

The both of us then just stood there sniffling as we watch her back slowly walking further away. It surely was a heartwarming scene , never have I seen such a mom care for her kid.

Daniel then turns to me and notices my glossy eyes , trying to hold it back. He looks at me in shock and confusion as to why I was crying at first but then just smiles softly at this sight of me.

It was so peaceful and nice. Haiz I guess this is the cue to leave now..

Well I guess not.

"Hey newbie. I saw everything you punk. You are out of line. Step up. Follow me. Im gonna mess you up."

It was vasco. And yea it's vasco ,he said as he took off his jacket, revealing his tattoos and strong build.

'Damn..'

Vasco just glares hard at Daniel and when his eyes met mine , he just looks shock at me , noticing my glossy eyes.

"Hey- did you just make her cry?!" Don't tell me you bullied her out for cash as well? You're an even bad guy than I thought." Vasco says as my eyes widened at his sudden explanation to what's going on here.
