the energy in the room was palpable as everyone prepared for the upcoming brunch. laughter and chatter filled the air, creating a vibrant but chaotic atmosphere.
despite the buzz, i found myself gravitating toward a quiet corner, seeking refuge from the overwhelming noise. i've never quite shaken the anxiety that large spaces bring. years of management's indifference have forced me to adapt, but moments like these remind me of my struggle.
i observed the scene with a mix of detachment and curiosity.
but suddenly, desiree's voice cut through the din, drawing my attention as she approached from the hallway.
"can you believe it?" she exclaimed, her tone laced with disappointment. "michelle said she wouldn't be coming again ... for the eighth year in a row."
