i was up in my office, sending out an email to the school in bel air, finalizing details for the week after the next week's trip. it was a whirlwind of flights, accommodations, and logistics for the crew.

sounds stressful right? but get this .. i was oddly calm amidst the chaos.

my phone buzzed incessantly with questions from my team, each one needing immediate answers.

just as i hit send on the email, my assistant popped in. "lady williams, do you need anything else right now?"

i glanced up, grateful for the interruption. "actually, a cappuccino would be perfect, thanks .. and stop calling lady williams! how many times do i have to tell you that, keyshia? you're my assistant just call me michelle or tenitra!"

keyshia nodded and giggled, then hurried out, leaving me to tackle the next item on my never-ending to-do list while she brought the cup of coffee.

i don't know why shorty is so scared of me.

as i dove back into work, my phone rang again. this time, it was amira, one of my best friends.

"hey best," i answered, trying to sound upbeat despite the weight of my responsibilities.

"hey best! ... uhm .. are you okay?" amira's voice said, and i instantly sensed something was wrong.

"girl! i'm fine?!" i reassured her.

amira didn't call just to check in unless something serious was up.

"just promise me you'll take care of yourself," she said softly, her concern palpable even through the phone.

"i promise love," i replied, though a pang of uncertainty gnawed at me. balancing advocacy, meetings, and personal life was a tightrope walk, and amira knew it better than anyone.
