sitting upright and under the covers, i was in my bed watching "meet the paynes".
the buzzers (speakers) started to go off that were connected to my computer, giving that eerie premonition that my phone was about to rang.
i stared at my phone as it rang, debating whether to answer or let it ring out.
i sighed and pressed the answer button, bringing it to my ear. i knew i had to answer.
"what do you want?" i asked, my voice tinged with both frustration and longing.
"don't 'what do you want' me, tenitra," beyoncé's voice came through, sharp and dismissive.
"you can't just disappear like that. we have to all meet up in a few days .. to speak about business and who gets what and our careers- you should know this by now."
i couldn't help but scoff. "our careers? your career! i don't owe sh*t to y'all no more. remember? like why do you even care so much? i'm not in the group anymore. we're not in a group anymore. it's 2006. not 2001."
"of course, you'd say that," beyoncé retorted, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "you were always the weak link."

"huh? wow, that's rich," i shot back. "if i was so irrelevant, why do you keep calling me? why do you care where i am?"
