She shot me.
The actually shot me.I could only fall, and watch as Ruth broke her bounds to run over to me, screaming.
I could only watch as Jane dropped the gun and held me as I bled.
I could only watch as Archie awoke to the terrifying noises.
I could only watch as Burnett continued to bleed.
As Ruth screamed, I began to flutter into a darkening abyss.
A darkness that felt comfortable
A darkness that felt frightening.Ruth grabbed me and begged me to stay awake.
I felt the bullet lodged in my side.
I felt Archie's tears.
I felt Jane's regret.
And then I felt
Nothing.I thought of Neville.
I thought of Molly.
I thought of Murphy.
I thought of everyone.
I thought of my Azure - about the way he would hold me.
I thought of Lavender and the years of affection, and the years I was going to miss.
I thought of Nothing.I tasted desperation.
I tasted tears.
I tasted Nothing.Like everyone, my hearing was the final sense to go.
I heard Ruth scream.
I heard Jane apologise.
I heard Archie yell.
And then I heard.
Nothing.Now, I don't know what happened.
Was it a miracle?
Was it luck?
Was it normal?I don't know what happened.
But I woke up.***
My eyes slowly fluttered awake and a bright light attacked all my senses. It was rather harsh and unnatural, followed by constant beeps.
I wasn't in the woodlands anymore. My eyes wandered to a woman in white, wearing her brown hair in a bun.
Our eyes met, and she jumped.
"Oh Goodness!" She yelped and ran over to the telephone on the wall. "Hello? It's Nurse Stone! The patient in room D36 has woken up. Send in the visitors while I fill out the paperwork."
