The Victoria Inn was packed, people had come to see the one band that played live that Saturday night, and it was Steven’s band, LostAlone. Amy was sat at a table in the front row and was sipping a drink of water. Steven came on stage and set up his guitar, amp and microphone, he winked and grinned at Amy in excitement when their eyes met. Mark came on stage with Tom and they all set up their instruments too in the small, darkly lit pub, there were a few fairy lights hanging around the bar and the tables had small candles on them. The aroma of wines and beers filled the room and the chatter of punters rang around the pub. Tom smiled and waved at Amy as he chucked his bass guitar on his shoulders and started to play a basic bass line to warm up; Mark smiled at Amy for the first time and hit the bass drum, snare and hi-hat all at the same time. Steven strapped his guitar on and strummed the guitar loudly to announce to the pub they were ready to rock and roll!
“Hi everyone, we are LOSTALONE!! I have one question for you all... WHO’S READY TO ROCK?!!” Steven screamed and the whole pub cheered lightly and Steven laughed at the weak response “Sorry I didn’t quite catch that, who wants to hear us rock this joint tonight?!” the audience cheered and hooted loudly and Steven grinned and said “Alrighty then! Let’s start off with one of our personal favourites; this is ‘Unleash the Sands of All Time’!” the audience cheered again as the last time LostAlone came to play in the Vic they all loved this song.
The guitar, bass and drums all kicked in and made the whole venue shake with perfect voices, tons of energy and infectious riffs. The song was played and the audience cheered, Steven thanked them and LostAlone played a few more that sounded amazing. Near the end of their set Steven introduced the last song they were going to play “Right guys, you’ve all been a superb audience, thank you all so much! Now this last song is very special to me, personally, and one other girl here tonight, Amy, haha yeah y’alright my darlin’? You know this one, but the others don’t, it’s called ‘Ethereal’ and here it is, I love you all, hope you enjoy this last song!” Amy’s heart skipped a beat and she instantly looked around to find everyone’s eyes on her, admiring her luck to be the girlfriend of a brilliant band’s front man. ‘Ethereal’ was even better live rather than an acoustic version; the bass really put an even more mystical style to it, and by the sound of it the whole audience loved it just as much as Amy because they were all stood up by the end and applauding and cheering. Steven smiled and put his thumbs up “Thanks guys! Love you all so much, we’ll be out in a bit if you want to talk to us at all, if not then screw you because we’re amazing!” Steven joked and bounded off the stage as a small crowd from the audience went to wait by the side of the stage for Steven, Mark and Tom to reappear.
When they appeared at the side of the stage, the small crowd shuffled towards the three most popular men in the pub that night, many of the crowd just went to congratulate them and say how well they performed. Most of the crowd had gathered around Steven and Tom, whereas only two people had gone to talk to Mark who was now sat at the bar with a glass of J20 in his hand. Amy went over to Mark and smiled when he saw her and put a hand out to her, she held it and Mark helped her jump onto the tall barstool next to him – it was obviously no trouble for him being so tall.
“Thank you, Mark, how are you?” Amy said calmly, she was trying to be “approachable” like Steven advised, even though she and Mark had grown close over the past week, he was still not very talkative. Mark nodded quickly,
“Yeah, yeah I’m good thank you, Amy, are... are you okay?” Mark replied quietly in a deep voice,
“I’m very good thank you, especially after watching your set and getting to hear ‘Ethereal’ with you and Tom too” Amy answered politely,
“Ha yes I’m glad you liked it, you’ve heard ‘Ethereal’ before?”
“Yes I have, Steven did an acoustic version in front of the music class last Friday, he said he realised that it’s about me, even if it was written before we had met” Amy explained smiling slightly, Mark looked at her and thought for a minute,
